Haven't played any of these but I find it ironic that Tim Langdell was so sh*t hot on his rights to the word 'Edge', but clearly spent his early days in software shitting on everyone else's IP by cloning them for profit.

Ninja edit: the automatic profanity filter here appears to be fucked.

Without naming any names, it's funny how a very recent case about IP ownership is centred around three Spectrum games that rip off well-known arcade classics. It has a whiff of 'receiving stolen goods' about it. Anyway...

Well that's something good about The Edj—it gave us Microbot!

1 - Microbot. It's an original idea/theme, and is the most polished and playable of the games here. Maybe Cosmium could do an DX version someday
2 - Starblitz. A properly executed shooter with scrolling. Neither applies to Firebird.
3 - Joust. Not a big fan of Joust games, but it's a decent one.
4 - Ugh. Looks good, polished. The controls? WTF?!!

Softek games always seemed to end up in the bargain bin market stalls by the late 80s, usually for about a quid each, so I ended up with quite a few of them! I remember Joust and Repulsar being quite good.

Although is Ostron not just the same game as Joust, but clearly renamed due to it blatantly stealing the name?

Joust!!

Seeing as Ostron and Joust are the same game, surely those votes should be counted as one???!?!?

The version i had was Ostron. Toss up between this and Monsters in Hell i remember enjoying that one, went with Ostron. Happy for my Ostron vote to go to Joust though if they are plumped together.
I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...

I do wish the whole Joust/Ostron thing was brought up in the discussion phase. Ah well, it doesn't appear to have affected anything.

Joust wins with 6 votes, a clear winner there.

Firebirds and Microbot in joint second place with 3 votes each.

In joint third place with 2 votes each: Ostron and Ugh!

In joint fourth place with 1 vote each: Megapede and Meteoroids.

Proportional poll has it like this...

Joust 10
Microbot 7
Starblitz 4
Megapede 2
Monsters In Hell 1
