The Computer Cookbook
Re: The Computer Cookbook
Sounds quite nice to me! Not sure about making 40 pints of it though.
I fancied looking at the code too, then noticed the anti-hack. I could have a look at the code later, but does anyone know the usual ways around the popular BREAK protect sofware?

This is ace as I actually love onion soup. It's my favourite of all the soups. Could I consume a batch for 99? not sure, but I'd be willing to give it a try.Juan F. Ramirez wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2019 5:05 pm I gave it a try and the beggining is not what I expected...
I tried an onion soup (*bleeeurgh!*) for 99, using imperial units (to get the best results! )
I think I'm going to puke...

POKE 65326, 233.
There are some amusing error messages in the program if you LIST 8510.

COSMIC COLANDERS!
Should have been Ian Hoare's second game.
Re: The Computer Cookbook
I saw an advert for Amazon Alexa where it was reading out recipes, and I thought to myself we had something similar in the 1980s!
Nice thread by the way R-Tape. I love those threads that run and run!

Re: The Computer Cookbook
So is anyone going to have a crack at one of the recipes along with the recommended wine?
My Speccy site: thirdharmoniser.com
Re: The Computer Cookbook
I would, but, considering the only veggie recipe is stuffed peppers and I despise peppers, I’ll just pretend to make all the recipes, but give a review on all the recommended wines.

Good point Juan F. Ramirez !Juan F. Ramirez wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2019 10:20 pmBut Alexa doesn't suggest as good wines to accompany as Mr. Hoare does!

As it seems the program will be hacked, we might include beers and hamburgers!

You've reminded me - I did a cgc game in 2016 that had a help assistant listing recipes: Vegetarian is Fun!Juan F. Ramirez wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2019 7:48 am ... and we could made a MOD: "The Spectrum Cookbook: the Vegan Edition"
CGC 2016 is still not collated though, so there's no file or screenshots yet. That's a job for next year
Re: The Computer Cookbook
It looks like we have another cookbook!
Moja Gospodinjska Pomocnica (My housekeep in Slovenian).
The book comes with a tape of recipes apparently. Shame it's mia, a I don't have many 1980's Slovenian receipes in my repertoire.
And it's got the best cover ever! Looks like a MM/JSW inlay.

Don't worry.
Just doesn't make sense.
You are doomed already.
You were doomed since you created your account here.
You were doomed since you surfed to this URL.
You were doomed since the thought crossed your mind that the Spectrum could be more than recycling bin fuel.
DOOOOOMD!!!!!
'Relax,' said the night man,
'We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave!'

Oh! And just to be on topic again
So I called up the Captain,
'Please bring me my wine'

R-Tape Could we add it to the database?
EDIT: And it's here:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... 96&id=9235
So a book somehow needs to be linked to the tape. And maybe the entry adjusted. I don't know if it's possible in ZXDB.
Re: The Computer Cookbook
Thanks Ralf. I've no idea how to do that. I'll see if the others do when I send my stuff for the next update.Ralf wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 12:24 pm EDIT: And it's here:

It could be my poor Slovenian, but it looks like the snapshot is missing the actual recipes. Perhaps they get loaded from another tape?
