Better than Great Escape?

Exolon is definitely the best for E.

So difficult to pick. R-Type feels like it deserves a place, but that excludes Robocop and Rainbow Islands. I think the only choice I'm not conflicted with is ZZoom and only because I wasn't a fan of Zombie Zombie.

Not sure I could settle for Chaos for C. Chase HQ all the way, Mr Driver.

Common prefixes like "the" and "a" are ignored, so "The New Zealand Story" effectively begins with N, if you see what I mean.
Reason: I've said it all before about being tremendous fun and filled with quirky humour. Manic Miner is a game that, for many, defines the Spectrum. It's possibly the only game that was ported to other machines with more advanced graphical abilities yet still chose to replicate the look of the Spectrum, that speaks volumes.
And I think S needs to be Sir Fred. Controversial, perhaps, but such a great game.

Would anyone argue with Xenon?

A few of you would probably drop the 'n'?

Guys, we need to think outside the box in order to find a way forward on this one, yet maintain a proactive synergy. Perhaps someone could suggest some innovative strategies in order to elucidate a consensus?

However, I'm not budging on Manic Miner or R-Type.

EDIT - Zynaps surely?

A voting thread for each letter surely?

So we can easily have it sorted out within a year!

Let's name the main games for a certain letter and see. For example, as to P, I see:

Pang, Paperboy, Pentagram, Penetrator, Phantom Club, Pheenix, Pyjamarama and Ping-Pong (Konami's Ping Pong, actually!).

I'd go for Pyjamarama.

Does the poll functionality on these forums allow people to add new options? 'Cos I can foresee people saying "hang on, you forgot...".

No once a poll is set it's set.

I think building up a list as we are, that can then be refined works, as long as M and R don't change of course.

So with 27 letters*, we could - for each one - give a week to sort out the candidates, then the second week to vote the candidates.

If we start with Monday 18th with A, we could be finished by the end of 2018...

* = Counting # (numeric) as a 'letter', if you see what I mean.

Exactly. Both Myth and R-Type are nonnegotiable!

Of course everything must be done twice, for classic and modern games!

Okey doke, we're on.

We'll start with two new week-long 'pick yer candidates' topics on Monday, one for classic games beginning with A, the other being modern games beginning with A.
