For me, hard hoice: the 'epic' of LoM vs the gameplay and fun of Spy vs Spy.

LoM got my vote at the end. It's a Spectrum classic.

Lords of Midnight - no contest!

I only really properly played (or tried to) Spy Vs Spy out of these and i didn't like it one bit.
Enigma Force or Shadowfire look like the ones i would have liked best, but don't think i ever played them.
Can't vote.

1. Spy vs Spy. (For all the two player fun I had, and the fact that watching your opponent's screen whilst playing was half the game)
2. Lords of Midnight
3. Domdark's Revenge. (because they both are great!)


Psytron... I had a playground copy of that back way back when. I didn't have a clue what I was doing. I think today is the first time I've read the instructions. I'm not sure they made it particularly fun.

I really enjoyed Spellbound, which I bought at part of the SoftAid compilation. An obvious Q*Bert knock off, but fun.

Blimey, I said this would be a walkover for Lords Of Midnight, and while it has attracted a really healthy result, it actually ties for top place with Spy vs Spy! Genuinely am surprised at that. 8 votes each for these top-placed games, I guess the proportional results might break the deadlock...

Second place, with 4 votes, is Enigma Force.

Third place, with 3 votes, is Shadowfire.

Fourth place, 2 votes, Spellbound.

Joint fifth place, 1 vote each, Bounces and Doomdark's Revenge.

Okay, is Lords Of Midnight truly seen as the best Speccy game by Beyond by this forum? Could it be Spy vs Spy instead? Well, the proportional votes say...

Not sure how I missed this vote. I would've voted for Lords of Midnight.
2 player Spy Vs Spy is great fun though.

I wonder - why is LoM considered to be better game than DR ? They seem very similar to each other.

What I'm most shocked about are the two votes for Spellbound and it getting more votes than Doomdark. Q*Bert games, other than Pogo, are pretty dire on the Speccy and Spellbound is a particularly poor version. Unless they thought it was MADs Spellbound

Each to their own though, I've undoubtedly voted for some shockers!

I could never really get into Doomdark's Revenge. They tried to complicate it too much. The Lord's would be wandering around so you never knew where to find them and it just wasn't as accessible for me.

I voted for Doomdark's Revenge (I think - can't remember now.. ) mainly because I played it before LoM.

Never got to grips with Spy vs Spy - surprising how well it's done in the poll.
