The best Speccy game by CDS Microsystems: discussion

Post by PeteProdge »

Still going through the first edition of Crash, and page 6 is a full page ad for CDS Microsystems, so let's dive in...

3D Painter
Backgammon
Bozy Boa
Brian Clough's Football Fortunes
Castle Blackstar
Catterpillar
Colossus Chess 4
Dominoes
European Superleague
Gobble A Ghost
Leapfrog
Magic Meanies
Othello
Pool
Reversi
Sporting Triangles
Steve Davis Snooker
Tank Attack
Time Bomb
Video Card Arcade
Winged Warlords
Wordsearch
Wulfpack

That's what I've come up with. There were other titles which I've decided to exclude, four them being the '...Is Fun' series (French/German/Italian/Spanish) which is educational software and isn't really quite a game as such. Turf-Form is also off this list because it's a prediction utility for those who bet on horse races.

Much of CDS's early stuff is arcade knock-offs. Pretty amazed they were still around in the late 80s to bring out a Sporting Triangles game.

Have I got it right/wrong? Let me know with your comments and we'll commence the week-long poll this time next week.

For me, the only game from the lot that's worth is Pool. Very good.

I've always had a soft spot for Winged Warlords.

Gobble A Ghost wasn't a bad little pacman game, pretty nippy as i recall.
I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...

I used to enjoy playing Steve Davis Snooker, despite it being completely impossible to actually pot anything.

CDS Pool was my favourite out of that lineup.
