Yep, that's didn't work as intended. I ended up typing it up instead. It took ages. I should have just done a paper round and bought a legitimate copy.

Yes, but that's just through combination of crappy tape player, cheap tapes and someone turning the kettle on. Or looking at it funny when it's loading. Or breathing.

I seem to recall assigning the colours each a number and writing it out that way.

I remember that with a bit of patience it was actually possible to guess the answer, since the game does not penalize a mismatch, you can keep typing random combinations.

I remember borrowing Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles for the c64 from a schoolmate, when I got home and loaded the game it asked for a pass-code with 4 digits. I checked the box and there was no sheet in there, so I just entered 4 numbers at random and the game started. What are the odds of that? Of course it didn't work the next time I loaded it.

And copying out colour code sheets by hand is killing Software Projects.

The copy protection on JSW was such a pain. I didn't think the game was good enough to warrant all the hassle it took to play.
