What does the u in uMIA mean?
What does the u in uMIA mean?
Might be a silly question but I can't seem to find what that u before the Missing In Action means, even after having a look around!?

Re: What does the u in uMIA mean?
Unknown MIA
( which is Unknown Missing In Action)
It's an old jargon coming yet from World of Spectrum.
MIA is a game that we don't have any copy on our website but we know that it existed (or was planned) and so have a database entry for it.
uMIA is a game that we don't a copy and we don't have a database entry for it, because nobody here has heard about it.
MIAS are in the database as entries without downloads, uMIAs aren't.

Re: What does the u in uMIA mean?
For years I believed the "u" stood for "micro" or "unreleased".
It was a true epiphany to discover its real meaning.

Re: What does the u in uMIA mean?

Welcome to forums Gilby !
Speaking of MIAs, if I may ask, are you still dealing with them? Are you and other old preservation team members (Andrew Barker, Guy Bearman) still active?

Re: What does the u in uMIA mean?
Hi Ralf,
Yes I'm still active, in fact I've never stopped preserving stuff... There's a ton of stuff to release.
I've started by uploading inlay and cassette scans to Pavel via Dropbox, which he will upload to archive.org and which hopefully get processed (rotating, cropping and occasionally stitching images together) and included in ZXDB. And a lot of the old gang are still active too, maybe with the exception of Andrew Barker.
