...Yeah, the idea was stol.. errr... 'inspired by' Avalon/Dragontorc... (Cross two screens to stop enemies following you)

...I'm not sure to what extent they chase you around, but Heavy on the Magick has creatures that move from room to room.

I don't know if Ninja/Yamo are actually 'following' you from screen to screen in Bruce Lee, but it feels like they are.

No. You can knock the guards out and move their helmets to another room. Then they just resume their original movements (wandering or patrolling, or even lying low as helmets for a while whenever you re-enter the room). But they don't follow you on their own, even between 'open-air' rooms like the courtyard.

If you really want to slow the game down, you can gether up all the guards' helmets and put them all in the same room, and they'll all emerge eventually. Pretty impressive that the game doesn't crash! You can only kill them permanently by dropping their helmets in the path of a whirlwind.

Bubbles re-spawn. Trolls and deaths are frozen in place when you're not in the room, and don't reappear if killed.

Thorin in The Hobbit is not a baddie, but he can be as annoying :)

Seriously though, Rogue. At least in the original version they do, not sure about ZX because it's a PITA to play, what with its silly movement method.

This is a good topic!

How about ...

Shadowfire (I am not quite 100% sure on it tbh)

https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... 96&id=4433

and its excellent sequel,

Enigma Force (they definitely do as I remember in this case)

Two class games from 35 years ago.

Odin's Robin Of The Wood. I pretty sure that the soldiers would follow you from screen to screen, until they got bored and turned around to go elsewhere. Oh, and those darn pig/wild boars...

Yes, you have to be careful moving between screens in ROTW.

Not as bad as Wriggler though, with that scary spider that moves between screens and kills you on touch.

iirc enemies in RotW don't follow, they just continue walking till dead end

and in Bruce Lee it's more like a respawn, not a pursuit

The cyan Fetchers in Quadron circle the complex from screen to screen but if they find a crystal before you do, and convert into Meta-Fetchers - the meaner version of themselves - they'll go after you and follow you from screen to screen. I was trying to capture that fearful sense of being relentlessly chased by certain enemies when designing the game, so having them follow you across "rooms" was a must!

The yellow Warpers also follow you across screens if you end up taking too long to clear a wave.

In Tujad there is a little robot which doesn't really follow you but it moves from screen to screen. See the video:

It's mostly harmless (the game generally is easy) unless you step directly into him when moving between screens
which may happen because you never know where he is until you see him.

Rescue had enemies that would roam around the whole map, although their behaviour appears to be mostly random.

If I remember rightly the enemies in Gunfighter used to move from screen to screen. They didn't exactly follow the player though, they would just shoot at you if you were lined up with them. Again, if I remember rightly, it's been a long time since I last played it. :)

In Skool Daze / Back to Skool the teachers will chase Eric across the map when skiving class. The police officers do the same in Contact Sam Cruise if you're wanted.

Bulldog's Wolfan.

I thought it looked great, and it seemed to play OK, until you had an unshakeable baddie on your tail who would follow you relentlessly.

Astroclone certainly did. If you walked into a room full of baddies, you could back out of the door and then shoot them one-by-one as they came through after you.

Did the enemy spy in Spy Vs Spy hunt you down sometimes? I seem to remember it did.

in the Enigma Force player also needed to follow and eliminate the enemy leader
