Right then...

8pm Tuesday 18th August

Join me on Reheated Pixels's Twitch channel as I play Renegade, across arcade, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64 and the ZX Spectrum. It'll mostly be the ZX Spectrum, because, frankly, it's best on that format. And I can complete it there.

Then Target Renegade on Wednesday, and... I'm putting myself through it... Renegade III on Thursday.

Will probably do some ZX Spectrum homebrew games the following week.

Yeah, you can still watch the two hours of me playing Renegade across four different systems (I conquer it on one particular platform) for the next 13 days at this link: www.twitch.tv/videos/714233478 - but, I will be editing that footage down, getting rid of the dull bits where nothing happens, and putting it up on the Reheated Pixels YouTube channel, at some point.

Tonight, back once again with the renegade master, I'm tackling the sequel - Target Renegade - on the beloved ZX Spectrum, and also on the Amstrad CPC and some beige breadbin. Kicks off from 8pm.

And tomorrow, inevitably, is me playing, or rather, enduring, Renegade III.

One small thing I should mention is that you might want to treat the chat box as an (almost) real time conversation rather than a stream of events. People watching the stream will, when there are enough of us, chat amongst ourselves and you should react to that as you would if you were in a group IRL - so there's no need to say "zxdunny says that..." because everyone can see it for themselves. Again, it makes the stream more organic and includes the viewers.

It's less of a broadcasted video and more a participation event.

I missed it. I arrived right at the end to see a middle aged bloke sweating and drinking a pint. Thought it was some niche pervycam site!

I've signed up. Can't commit to 2 hours of it, but I'll make an effort to turn up for a bit on the next two. Renegade 3 especially.

You're right! Being new to this, and starting off small, means making a few mistakes.

I got into the swing of things by the second hour, and I realise it's best to relax, take my time and just go with the flow. I'm going to love tonight, as I hit the best of the three Renegade games. And more beer.

I stream Spectrum games on Twitch every fortnight or so. I've even done a little live typing.

Very impressed with the graphics on modded Renegade, a lot of them bettering the original. The difficulty level though, aaaaaAAAarrrrgh!

Please someone give me the elusive Target Renegade mod, as that appears to have fallen off the internets... I'll try to include that in tomorrow's stream, on the hugely loved Renegade III... hang on... erm...

Yeah, 15 minutes worth of that over and over again because I'm a total clown shoe.

And then... the snooker cue changed everything.

WHY COULDN'T I REMEMBER THAT?

Anyway, Renegade III tonight, always good to go out on a... oh.

That's the least enticing advert for a gaming stream ever!

Renegade 3, as predicted, was utter pony, but there's some mirth to be had over the completion messages on both Speccy and C64.

Viewable in full for the next 14 days here: www.twitch.tv/videos/716245446

Next Tuesday from 8pm, I'm going to play budget games, in a concept I'm calling 'Two-Quid Tuesday'. We start with 180 by Mastertronic.

Quite enjoyed that Stream, even if you didn't...

The C64 version looks decent graphics-wise. The moves look a bit odd but I haven't actually played it myself.

My favourite part of it was... well, drinking beer in between format shifts.

Oh, and getting to play Ralf's coloured mod of the Speccy version. It's still a crap game, but lifted up several percentage points by the addition of colour.
Morkin wrote: Fri Aug 21, 2020 8:39 amThe C64 version looks decent graphics-wise. The moves look a bit odd but I haven't actually played it myself.
It's largely the same style as Speccy/Amstrad/MSX, but you have to a few different moves to defeat certain baddies. The woeful sparse animation on the lead sprite doesn't help.

180 by Mastertronic this coming Tuesday, which really gives my occasional beer drinking some validity. I aim to play it without any cheats. I swear I completed it quite a few times back in the day.

I'm following Ewan Spence on Twitch www.twitch.tv/ewanspence that used to show homebrew and play different games, usually until completion.

Cheers! I've just followed him after taking a look at some of his archived streams.

I'll be looking at some homebrew Spectrum games over the coming weeks, I'm doing more than just going after the big famous classics.

Hello,
I'm the friend that RMartins mentions, and I've played with him but I have also streamed a few times on Twitch.
It's sad that RMartins doesn't watches my streams so he doesn't seem to know I do them...

Streaming has been on pause for some weeks, also, but coming up next saturday evening again!
This is my channel: https://www.twitch.tv/zxspectrumload

RMartins wrote: Fri Aug 07, 2020 2:50 pm I don't know any, but it might be interesting.

I have a friend, that usually pays networked ZX spectrum games on Saturday night usually.
But he never streams it, except for the ones playing the games.

I have played Extruder and target renegade with him.

By the way, is there some form to list games that support two players simultaneously, here at Spectrum Computing ?

NOTE: The "multiplayer mode" filter, 3 values ("Cooperative", "team play" and "versus") doesn't seem to cover if it's turned based or simultaneous.

Extruder for example, doesn't even appear in the "versus" list, although it clearly supports it.

"Versus" has 13 games, but Chaos for example is not there.
"Cooperative" Only has 5 games
"teamplay" Only has Bomb Munchies in it.

Not sure exactly what "teamplay" stands for here ?
Multi entities controlled by single user, like in LaserSquad or Chaos, or several players in the same team ?

If it's the last one, what is the difference to "Cooperative", then ?

That's my channel! :-)
I'm still a newbie and was trying the Twitch platform, while playing games with my friends.
Those videos are from games played with friends, over the Internet, during the lockdown period.
I've answered a few people on chat, but I don't talk or appear during the games.
Have to better my streaming presentations, I know... ;-)

I'd love to do that. Is that a RetroArch thing? I've never sussed out netplay.

If I'm going to do it, I'd like to have some guests on my channel.
The online networked games are played with a method already published on Planeta Sinclair, a blog from Portugal.
We will issue an english tutorial sometime soon.
I can play with you sometime to show you how it works, maybe towards the end of the month we can try it together.

Hello,

Last saturday I streamed over Twitch and Facebook Gaming.
We played for 4 hours: an online game of Formula One, with 6 human players (all remote), using the new Formula One MOD 2020.

Links to watch this last stream:
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/782899005
https://www.facebook.com/zxspectrum80s/ ... 505810751/

Hope you guys enjoy it, let us know what you think about the stream (still very amateur) and also the MOD 2020 (I'm one of the authors, along with @RMartins).
Plan on streaming at least twice a week from now on... so you can follow each of the channels to get notified. :)
