Chaos is the best Ultimate game.

"Er, actually, it wasn't made by Ultimate" cry the cynics. Well, it's that good a game that it qualifies for that title. And others, like Best Ocean Game; Best Electronic Arts Game; Best RockStar Game, etc, on account of being the best game ever created and the only game you really need.

Talking of Ultimate, Digitiser 2000 today has an article on the, er, games that Ultimate wished you forgot, so it's like an inversion of this thread. Interesting reading..

From a purely nostalgic perspective and not necessarily what I deem the best game, mine would be:

1 - Jetpac - Remember playing it on a 16k speccy at a very typical 80s Dinner Party that my parents dragged me to. The son of the people hosting the meal had a speccy and I was blown away by JetPac and Arcadia!!

2 - Sabrewulf - Thought the animation was amazing

3 - Knight Lore - Jaw-dropping graphics!! Software City in Wolverhampton was just crammed full of whiffy kids who stood watching the screen in amazement.

4 - AticAtac - I was always impressed in the way you could play different characters.

5 - Gunfright - I always thought this had a great atmosphere to it with the locals going about their business. I also loved the way you jumped to that 'shoot-out' screen when you found the bady.

Yeah, interesting reading.

I would have liked to play one of those C64 games or seen converted to the Spectrum. The adverts looked great in spite of the -supposely- bad quality... Anyone played any of them?

I've got them all.

To be honest the Pendragon games aren't that bad. Imhotep is very hard and it is not just a shoot em up. It does have p!atforming levels.

Outlaws however, it terrible.
