Okay, we've collectively decided that Atic Atac; Bomb Jack; Chase HQ; Deathchase; Exolon and Fairlight have won the first six letters of this A-Z.
Now we're onto the letter G, and I've come up with this list...
Game Over by Dinamic
Gauntlet by US Gold
Gauntlet II by US Gold
Ghostbusters by Activision
Ghosts 'N Goblins by Elite
Ghouls 'n' Ghosts by US Gold
Gift From The Gods by Ocean
Gilligan's Gold by Ocean
Glider Rider by Quicksilva
Grand Prix Simulator by Code Masters
Great Escape, The by Ocean
Green Beret by Imagine
Gunfright by Ultimate
Over to you lot for more suggestions, the poll will begin around this time next Monday...

It's The Great Escape for me. It really pushed the boundaries.

Add to the list, maybe a bit surprising
: Glug Glug
A great, early, single screen, action game. From the same shelf as Pssst, Cookie and Jetpac.

My memory of Gauntlet is more about it always being at the top of the readers charts in Crash magazine. To my mind it was there for years, but that probably is more about how time was much slower as a child, and the reality was it was only on top for a month or two (?)
Of the games there, Grand Prix Simulator is the definitely the one I played the most by a long way. I’m sure it isn’t technically the best game, but it is one of my defining Spectrum/childhood computer games, and will probably get my vote for that.

Gunfright for me, although I think the Great Escape is a clear favorite here.
Also, maybe the Gyroscope, should be added to the list...

I'd add:
- GBA International Basketball, an entertaining two-on-two basketball game.
- Gremlins, the Adventure.
- Goody
And I don't know if we should include Gyron. Innovative back in the day. But I've always found it boring!

Quite a few decent arcade conversions starting with G:

Definitely The Great Escape for me too.
Honourable mention goes to Green Beret though. One of the best, most accurate arcade conversions released on the Speccy.

I have a fondness for a game called 'golf'. Pretty sure it was written in BASIC and was bought from a small ad in the Sinclair User. It was the only computer game I ever played with my Dad.
For me it must be Grand Prix simulator based on hours played. Great Escape was groundbreaking though, very original. If it was a best music vote, Glider Rider is the clear winner. It is also not a vote on 'Sauciest Poster Art', so I cannot put Game Over.

I'd second adding Gyroscope, and also Gryzor - an excellent conversion.
And it's never going to win, but I have a real soft spot for Sinclair User's cover-tape exclusive, Go Bear Go!

The Goonies
Of course! That game manages to capture the most tense atmosphere ever, it's terrifying. And I never even made it off the first screen.

Are you refering to Handicap Golf by CRL, perhaps?

Glider Rider is one of those games I couldn't get it back in the day and I've only played it on a emulator.
I would have enjoyed it a lot in my Spectrum, definitely.

There's games I've played more than any of the ones mentioned so far, like Gobble A Ghost, Gremlins and Grand National, but I don't think they'll trouble the scorers when it comes to the final count.
Haven't played The Great Escape so I'll need to have a look.

Yeah, Grand National is a game I played a lot, interesting, but I don't think it would be a good contender in this thread.

Gyroscope for me. Once its up (unless some huge omission gets remembered in the meantime) that'll be my vote.
I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...

It'll be a hard fight between Green Beret and the Great Escape.
But I'll be wrong as always!

I would also add
Grell and Falla
It's no winner here and maybe not so popular as it came to the market in final days of commercial Spectrum when everybody was moving to other platforms.
But It's a really polished game, very pretty and colourful with lots of content and hours of gameplay.
