.trd to .dsk

Post by fenderjaguar »

I've been looking at some of the russian hacks of games, intended for pentagon and scorpion. They are all for larger disks in the .tdr format, with about 10 games on each disk. Is it possible to pull the individual games out of this format and turn them into .dsk images to be copied to a spectrum +3 disk?

I've tried taking a 128k .sna, then converting it to .dsk and tap. And that works, but because the game I'm looking for doesn't have a single loadout, it crashes when a level ends etc.

Basically, I want myth: history in the making on +3 disk. Why does this not exist? Was it ever actually put out on +3 disk, or was that just planned and never actually happened?

You’re going to have to reverse-engineer the game code and replace the TR-DOS loading part with +3-relevant code. There’s no way around it.

Can you provide links for this russian compilation?

But, if you want just a Myth on +3 disk, thats not a problem, here it is:
http://spectrum3.esy.es/Juegos/DSK/M/Myth.rar
Theres no auto load, so just type CAT and load first file in directory.
You have nice collection of +3 dsk games on this web page, so enjoy. :)

OMG, you're amazing! :o :D

BTW, is there any reason the person who created that .dsk conversion didn't simply rename the "myth" file as "disk"? Because I just did that now and it seesm to work just the same. That loader they made, is what I was wanting to do, but would be way out of my depth.

The stuff I was looking at was on these pages, but like I say, it's a .trd, not a .dsk:

thanks again. I'm gonna try this on my real spectrum +3....works perfectly.

Also, thanks for the http://spectrum3.esy.es link, there's some amazing stuff there. Just basically my dream come true. Some magic fairy came along and removed all the crappy DRM from the .dsks, all the disks can be cat, and can be copied over to a real disk without having to recreate all that weak sector crap etc with samdisk. The games even load faster.
