Some more names, all from Reaktor games, and all taken from the credits section on the rear of their respective inlays:
Challenge of the Gobots - Eddy King (pic below from my own scan)
Deadringer - Richard Edington (inlay is in the archive if you want to check! )
Mountie Mick's Deathride - Johnny Johnstone (retrogames.co.uk, cropped version below for convenience)
Out of This World - Jim McCarthy (retrogames.co.uk, cropped version below for convenience, taken from C64 release but same artwork)
Richard Edington has come up before on another Ariolasoft title (Bride Of Frankenstein) and I think Eddy King is going to be the same guy credited as Eddie King on Triaxos (again, from retrogames.co.uk) but who knows which spelling is the "correct" one?:

Napoleon at War - Jean-Baptiste Mauzaisse
The inlay attributes the painting to "Mauzaine after Gros", but I think this is a typographical error.
Jean-Baptiste Mauzaisse painted the image, as a copy of Antoine-Jean Gros' original

Re: Cover artists
What's "internal art"? Does it mean in-game graphics?Rorthron wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 4:38 pm One other thing I unearthed:
Jewels of Darkness - James Horsler (internal art, literally "pictures"). Listed in the instructions.
Per Moby Games he also contributed internal art to:
Silicon Dreams
The Price of Magik
Red Moon
The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4
The Worm in Paradise

Re: Cover artists
No: inlay art that's not the cover (I think). The inlay credit just says "pictures", though, so it's not entirely clear
Re: Cover artists
"Digital artist responsible for the design and creation of all the art work in a number of games: Red Moon, Return to Eden, Emerald Isle, The Worm in Paradise, The Price of Magic and the Secret Diary of Adrian Mole."

Re: Cover artists
This sounds like in-game graphics. The term "digital artist" wouldn't apply to cover/inlay art in the 1980s.StooB wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 6:56 pm"Digital artist responsible for the design and creation of all the art work in a number of games: Red Moon, Return to Eden, Emerald Isle, The Worm in Paradise, The Price of Magic and the Secret Diary of Adrian Mole."

Re: Cover artists
I found this on his personal web page: http://www.art-of-james-horsler.co.uk/about.htm
(fifth paragraph)
"My first professional art job in the 1980’s was working with Level 9 Computers doing vector art for games. I had eight colours to work with including black and white!!"
So it seems he was referring to in-game graphics.

Re: Cover artists
Besides, if we check the Mobygames entry for one of the games he work for, The Price of Magik, in the 'cover art' tab, we search for the Spectrum version and there are some scans, the inlay but also the instructions:
https://www.mobygames.com/game/price-of ... Id,419442/
and it says, in the credits section:
"Pictures: James Horsler
[...]
Cover Picture: Godfrey Dowson"
So he was not clearly the cover author. He was referring to the in-game graphics.

Re: Cover artists
BTW Simon Brattel kindly confirmed to me that "most (nearly all) of the original artwork [for Crystal and Design Design] was done by Dave [De Leuw], but there were different versions of some games and later re-releases that weren't."
