Edit: Phil Gascoine is also reference a "contributor" on many titles.
The term "contributor" has nothing to do with ZXDB.

Spectrum Computing considers that certain roles (such as coder, in-game graphics artist, etc) are main authors, other roles (inlay artists, etc) are contributors.

There was a long discussion somewhere in this forum about it...

Oh, perfect then, I'll keep adding artists :)

Per "MB" signature in bottom right corner; A Tau Ceti advert is by M Bromley in a similar style
On Mobygames is credited, so, yes: https://www.mobygames.com/developer/she ... Id,554359/

There is a signature, but it is not completely legible in the SC scan
Not sure about this one, we need a better scan.

Yes! I've found this: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/01065961
So, confirmed it was an agency called Blake Sears Limited

Einar Saukas How might I proceed? I can use labeltype "Company" but perhaps we can add "Company: Packaging/Advertising Design". Also, perhaps a new role: "Packaging Design"?

In my opinion, if the artist (just the artwork) is a company, it should be included in the artists' entry. That's better than having no info in this game.

But if the company made only the packaging design (not the artwork), as to being included in a new entry: 'inlay designer' or so... it's a thing that will complicate things a lot, as we have enough with the artists search! :?

In my opinion, we must not include that new entry. Most entries will be empty.

Agreed!

When we only know the company responsible for the cover art, it should be credited. For instance:

https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... 96&id=1290

And we know both the artist and company responsible for the cover art, both should be credited. For instance:

https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... 96&id=1524

Agreed. Adding a new field that would be empty for all games except one, wouldn't help.

And now a tricky one:

Street Sports Basketball:

https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... id=4942

In the instructions file we can read:

'Original artwork for Commodore 64 version by Suzie Green, Sheryl Knowles and Michael Kosaka'

The question is after checking the Commodore inlay in the Mobygames link I see there are two different inlays for the C64, both disk versions.

I had a search in google and I could easily find a C64 cassette inlay with the same artwork as the Spectrum one.

But the instructions are for both disk and cassette versions... so can anyone shed light on this? :?

The credits on Mobygames for other games that Suzie Green, Sheryl Knowles and Michael Kosaka worked on are all for graphics rather than cover art so I think that credit is for in-game art that only appears in the C64 version.

I think I just found a treasure: :P

A web about artist of classic videogames. Here, Mastertronic:

http://www.boxequalsart.com/mastertroni ... ge.html

... and Ocean:

http://www.boxequalsart.com/oceanpublisherpage.html

A list with games/author at the end of the article.

I'll check it and see which games in these articles don't include their artist in ZXDB.

Good thing they also include the nationality of the authors, Chris Kenyon for example is from USA.

I'm unsure about this one. All three Horace games have some very similar art, seems odd he is credited only on this one. I mean, might be true, but makes me uneasy for some reason. Not sure if we can find another source, thought.
