I'd add Panic by Mikro-Gen. Love the arcade game and this is one of those Spectrum conversions as funny as the original.

Image

Perico Delgado Maillot Amarillo, a good cycling game (not many for the Spectrum)

Also:

Penetrator by Melbourne House.

Image

Pheenix by Megadodo (another good conversion)

Image

Pyracurse.

Psycho City.

And I have a question: Phantomas has a sequel, Phantomas 2 (excellent game, my fave Dinamic game) but released as 'Vampyre' in the UK.

Should we include it here or in the V thread? I think we should take into account the original release.

Pac-Land:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... 96&id=3577
nothing special but I recall some people like it
By the way, do we have any good version of Pacman on Spectrum?

Panama Joe:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... 96&id=3591
not a chance to win but a classic, probably much bigger on other platforms where it's known as Montezume Revenge

Paris-Dakar:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... 96&id=3623
I would add it, a huge, very colourful Spanish racing game, quite impressive

Pheenix:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... 96&id=3690
Well known, playable classic

Percy the Potty Pidgeon:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... 96&id=3851
another classic

I could add more if required. Quite a lot of decent games under "P" I guess.

I've always loved Z-Man. It has good graphics and sound, all you need to enjoy it. A great candidate for the 'Z' poll.

Yes, the arcade version. There's a Pac-Man emulator for the Spectrum +2A/+3 which emulates the arcade hardware, allowing the original Pac-Man ROMs to run (almost) unmodified. More info.: http://simonowen.com/spectrum/pacemuzx/

Yes, the arcade version.
I know it and totally agree :) Actually . it's great project.

So i asked my question badly. Actually I wanted to ask:

Is there any good classic Spectrum version of Pacman from the 80s?
And does it have a name starting with "P" so we could include it in this poll? ;)

I recall a lot of clones but rather poor quality.

I never played it, but upon reading that I instantly remembered the advertisement for the game.

This is going to be a pretty tricky one. There are four outstanding ones for me:

Pippo - A great budget tittle with some good music.

The Pawn - all time great adventure

The Pyramid - one of the first games I played.

But, for me it’s got to be Ping Pong!! Easily one of the best sports games on the spectrum and probably the best table tennis game on any system and that title tune!!! After over 30 years I still know it off by heart. Superb.

Penetrator then Power Drift for me :) Almost the first and almost the last Specy games I played!

Another slightly obscure early one I played round at my friends: Pterodactyl!

Oh no! Major fail on my part!! Yes, that’s the one though - I just remember it being phonetically Pterodactyl! I see what they’ve done there though.

I'm baffled.

The only people I know who like it, like the arcade version, or indeed pretty much ANY version other than the Spectrum. I include myself in this. The bodged conversion of this great horizontal scrolling game to a flip-screen atrocity (on one screen where you reach the far right, you find yourself stuck until you jump over the unseen fire hydrant that just happens to be at the start of the next screen!)

That'll come under '#' (numeric characters), which will be the 'letter' after Z.

Pssst is probably the earliest great classic here, but my vote will deffo go to Pyjamarama.
The next letter is gonna be my favourite, it includes my all time fave speccy game :)
I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...

I'm going to get the vote started a day later - tomorrow from 10am. Another 'thing' has just come up (and I'll explain these soon).

Good point. I think it should be included here. Original being priority, so we're counting this as Phantomas 2. CodeMasters put it out here as Vampire, so we'll ignore that when it comes to V...
