It's pretty good once you learn how to control your character and how to use his transformations.
Also, it's got nice details, like the women pointing their crucifix at you, or the way you suck the blood of the people until they wither and become just bones falling to the ground.

Yeah, that’s something I struggled with. How do I use the keys on doors? Also, I can’t seem to be able to land on the second floor as a vampire. I can fly up there as a bat, and then, once I transform, I fall through to the first floor. Bummer.
Every man should plant a tree, build a house, and write a ZX Spectrum game.

That's because this vampire was distracted when they teached how to land on the second floors, at the bat flying course. I tried again and again too, but you just can't. The old stair-climbing method is the only way.Ast A. Moore wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 10:01 pmYeah, that’s something I struggled with. How do I use the keys on doors? So, how do you get past the trapdoors on the second floors? With the other available transformation.
As for opening the doors, it's just up+fire, IIRC. Of course, you need the right key.

Thanks. Will give it another go. Just need to sharpen my teeth first.

The Last Vampyre seems a cool game. I didn't know it.

This is a really high quality game, and the release date reminds me that me & friends caught the speccy right at the end. Don't know exactly where, but it's somewhere in my top 10. I fired it up a while back 'just to remind myself' and ended up playing several levels (it's relatively easy to make progress). I don't know exactly why, but you can really picture yourself as the sprite.
Amazing graphics, even though it dares to use the ROM font!

La Espada Sagrada [Toposoft, 1990]
Very cute and playable Spanish arcade/adventure.
No British magazine reviewed it.
MicroHobby gave it only 72%.
It probably deserved more.

I never got to grips with the rotate and move controls. Good game though, especially with 2 players.R-Tape wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 9:52 pmThis is a really high quality game, and the release date reminds me that me & friends caught the speccy right at the end. Re: Game of the day...
The only time Shadow of the Beast should be game of the day is if it's crap game day.
Re: Game of the day...
It's not crap, just plagued by an ubiquitous multiload.
Re: Game of the day...
I disagree. The multiload was the best part of the game.

Great posts, Mr. Cruel. 1990 is a year whose games I don't know much.
