Game of the day...
Re: Game of the day...
Stormlord, Hit, The Real Ghostbusters, Kendo Warrior: all 1989's games just like:
Sidewinder II [Mastertronic Plus]
Cautious and moderately paced vertical shoot'em up.

Satan [Dinamic Software, 1989]
A strange Dinamic game in which it's hard to die and there aren't colourful but clashy graphics, they're in fact small and monochrome.
Your character is an agile guy jumping, clinging and climbing with ease while collecting power up's and annihilating dozen of monsters.
It's playable. Dunno if it can hold one's interest for long though.

That sums it up nicely. It's pretty good, but to me it seems like an accomplished tech demo with placeholder graphics, waiting for the artists to give it a personality.

Viaje al Centro de la Tierra [Toposoft]
I can't even get past the chart map section.

Fired up my (so far) trusty +2, and played the Cronosoft release of Buzzsaw+ until the level 4 cutebots handed me my arse.

Fridge Frenzy by Bug-Byte.
An bit irritating Manic Miner-like game by Bug-Byte. You have to move quickly due to the limited time to pass the screen.

Mummy! Mummy! by Mc Lothlorien.
A not-bad version of the arcade classic Panic, which I love in every version.

Still can't get past the first level of The Untouchables. 70% is my top completion score.
Re: Game of the day...
Interesting title screen effect, I wonder if it's meant to look something like the patterns in this Interlace demo.

Zig Zag by DK'Tronics.
An odd game, you have to drive around a 3D maze in pursuit of these weird alien thingies. The aim is to trap them in a corner so you can mercilessly blow them to pieces with your gun, causing the maze to expand and more aliens appearing. It's basically a reverse 3D Monster Maze.

The ZX-Dev remake of Alley Cat—Misifu la Gatita
It looks a bit rough round the edges at first glance, but it's very addictive!

Great game that I couldn't play it back in the day.
This is the first Spectrum game I've played on a emulator ('Spectrum' by Pedro Gimeno for DOS) back in 1993. Cool.

Nohzdive
The more I played, the more I like it.
My highest score is still only 80 points... after realizing that I not only must avoid walls and certain objects & enemies while falling off but also get the balloons (or are they flying jellyfishes?)

Every man should plant a tree, build a house, and write a ZX Spectrum game.

Why the absolute F would you choose to play this game?!!! Just seeing the in-game image reminds of the abject misery I experienced after receiving it from those buggers at The Home Computer Club. They sent it me as 'The Editors Choice', pah, editors choice my arse, more likely that the editor hated children and wanted to inflict unimaginable misery which would scar them for years to come. Look at the bloody colours, what kind of damaged mind would do that?!!!!
