Menace is probably my rarest original. It's the very first game I bought at a Dion store in Johannesburg, South Africa.
I've never seen this game anywhere else after that and it's mostly advertised in magazines as the Firebird re-release.
A few years ago I submitted it to WOS.

Eric & the Floaters [Sinclair Research, 1984]
(but already released the year before as Bomberman by Hudson Soft, I think)
Lately I'm always having a game or two at this simple but playable game, in the evening.

Today is 10 years since Chris Sievey passed away, so I will be playing The Biz.

Maybe today will be the day I get a reply from a record company and not die of a heart attack!

Yep, it's all there. I do have the original inlay scan still in BMP format (300 dpi) if someone with photoshop skills wants to beautify it.

Thanks

Today, after a while, I played my favorite Spectrum game again.
After all these years, she kept the same charm, polished, addictive, simply beautiful. :)

Camelot Warriors. I completed it back in the day, and now I'm trying to finish it again saving snapshots and checking the YT walkthrough, obvs., as it's bloody difficult. Currently in the second world:

Nice that you get to play as a dog though...
Same here. I was of the mistaken opionion that because it was released by the same company as Avalon & Dragontorc AND that it came in the same clam box (Why that made me think that I have no idea) that it would be written by the same people and be of the same quality. So I bought it. Never really got in to it either!

Love this comment on the instructions:
The House That Jack Built was written by Craig Mitchell, aged 12, of Middleton, Manchester, for the 16K Spectrum.

Escape, by New Generation.

A very interesting maze game, released very early, in 1982. The action takes place in a pseudo-3D maze.

I remember Pyracurse getting really hyped up before it's release, both Sinclair User and Your Sinclair had really big previews (the Your Sinclair one even relates it to Avalon & Dragontorc). This was, of course, in the days when games would often be on the shelves before the reviews were printed and you can see how Hewson were really proud of the game which was supposedly from reviews was the first from it's new in-house team and was the brainchild of Andrew Hewson. Except it looks like the programmers only ever made that one Spectrum game! But it was at the time when Steve Turner/Graftgold were beginning to make a name for themselves, Quazatron had just been released and had scored really well and I guess Hewson were a bit scared of losing them and had to really hype Pyracurse. I remember seeing the glossy cover in the clam shell, which did seem a bit out of place for a Spectrum game at the time, and thinking about buying it but then I saw the price of £9.95 and couldn't afford it so bought Jack The Nipper instead. Not only was it cheaper, but it came with a free badge! lol

Strangely, Pyracurse was also a game that nobody in my school class had, so it didn't end up on one of the many pirate compilation tapes. It wasn't until years later that I played it on 10 Computer Hits 4 and I just couldn't work out how to play it at all. It did seem a bit groundbreaking and a bit of a precursor (Pyracursor??? ) to Where Time Stood Still, but it just didn't feel anywhere near as good as the glowing reviews gave it.

Funnily enough, when Your Sinclair reviewed the budget re-release, they gave it 51% and said it was a rarity in that it was a "completely crap Hewson game. You have to wonder just how much the reviewers at the time were caught up in the Hewson hype train (maybe they were taken on a special junket or something!)

Who Dares Wins II by Alligata.

A more-than-decent Commando-style game. Really cool, I'd say.

yeah. it may not look good, but i remember playing it alot, and it was really fun. actually, i liked it more than "commando" (and i played "commando" first, so it's not a duck syndrome).

I actually kinda like the gfx, it is a bit funny though. The "friendly fire" is also a nice touch.

But what I've always wondered is what has happened to Who Dares Wins I?

I reckon if Cannon Fodder was ported to the Spectrum it would look a little bit like this!

4K Tap 'n' Join

Great little puzzler, but it's so action packed that it feels wrong to call it that. I can't quite think quickly enough to make full use of the bonuses yet, but when you get them there's plenty of satisfying flashes and fireworks on the screen.

Currently trying to rekindle my love for Myth, which I consider to be a top 5 all time Speccy game.

How did I ever tolerate these controls?!

I must have missed that one!

Annoyingly, just as I was getting to grips with Myth the game said I was dead. Suddenly, with no warning. Even though I had a couple of lives left.

hmph!

The Last Vampire, by the Shaw Brothers.

Cool discovery I made some months ago.

Those Shaw brothers made some interesting games.
