The best classic Speccy game beginning with Q: vote

Post by PeteProdge »

Right then, it's Sunday, so let's kick off this poll. Bit short, what with Q not being a really popular letter to begin a game name with. And from the discussion thread, it seems there is going to be a very firm winner from the Hewson camp... but is that really true? Only one way to find out...

I voted for Quazatron. Yeah, not a very original vote, but the others aren't at the same level. Maybe Quartet, but it's not a good conversion.

Went for Quazatron - no contest really.

It's not only by a country-mile the best Q game in the list, it's one of the best ever Speccy games (arguably it's greatest isometric game) and in the running as one of the greatest 8-bit games of all time - across all platforms. I think it's also a better game than Paradroid, which was more of a shoot-'em-up than Quazatron. The sound on the Speccy version is some of the best ever. Its only downfall is the scrolling and even that doesn't spoil the game all that much.

Own up, who voted for it..?

I was encouraged to have a go at it. Seems to be a bit like Elite at first glance. Errr, sort of...

I went with Quick Draw McGraw, because . . . hey, it’s pretty decent, and I never really got into Quazatron.

I nominated it (I honestly can't remember why), but I haven't voted for it. I haven't voted at all yet, I've never played Quazatron, I've barely played anything in the list - the two magazine covertape games are what I remember but I doubt they're worthy of being called the 'best' in this list.

Where's QZythum?

I don't know. I've never got into Quazatron. I'll vote Quan Tulla just because.

Not much discussion to be had on this one eh... I think Quazatron might just nick this one by a whisker.
I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...

I have simple tastes, and it looks like Quazatron is just about safe, so I went for Quackshot.

Does anyone know why the Speccy didn't get a straight conversion of Paradroid?

Well, there you go. To very little surprise, Quazatron massively dominates the poll, gaining 70% of the votes - with 21 people having picked it.

The nearest contender was way behind. Quackshot! got 5 votes.

And then there are also-rans with 1 vote each: Quartet; Quasar; Quann Tulla and Quick Draw McGraw.
