How to fix lifted edge connector trace

For experts to discuss very technical stuff and newbies to ask why the Spectrum they bought off ebay doesn't work.

How to fix lifted edge connector trace

Post by fimbulvetr »

I have a grey +2 and am in need of advice on how to repair it. One of the traces on the expansion edge connector has started to lift. Can it be glued back down? If so, what sort of glue should I use? If not, how do I fix it? Thanks!

If you are very good with your hands, yes it is possible. I *think* superglue or a ‘hardplastic’ type glue applied with a very fine brush, thin piece of paper or a cut down matchstick (cut to make it wafer thin) is the way to go.

Do leave it for at least 24 hours after gluing though before plugging anything in.

Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb :dance
Looking forward to summer later in the year.

I will give that a try. Unfortunately this is my good unit, and I only noticed the lifted edge connector tab because I had it open to do an audio mod. Of course the edge connector is perfect on my broken +2.
