128k +2 Grey Recap Question

Post by Oggyuk »

Hi Everyone
Hope someone can help.
Just recapped a 128K grey +2
and everything was looking fine, working fine until I recapped the Datacorder.
Now when I turn on the machine I get random blocks and colours,BUT if I reset the machine and dont turn it off it works fine.
Madness.
Also if I unplug the datacorder from the mother board the machine turns on ok.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Double check to make sure you have the capacitors on the Datacorder side installed correctly. There are really only four connections between the logic board and the Datacorder: +5V, ground, audio in, and audio out. Also, make sure there are no cold solder joints or solder splashes bridging traces.

And just to be sure, recheck the installation of C36.

If C36 is not present, is fitted the wrong way round, has poor solder connections or is faulty, then there will be no auto-reset on power on and the Z80 CPU will not be correctly reset.
