For experts to discuss very technical stuff and newbies to ask why the Spectrum they bought off ebay doesn't work.

ZXSpectrum +2a CF IDE storage

Post by StephenM »

Hi, I have recently received a 2a without its tape deck and was interested in using a Z80 UIDE storage solution. Of the two BIOS ROMS that I have found ,the 3e and ResiDOS , which would you recommend? Initially I'm looking at just playing games and demos on it and keeping it as simple as possible.

All the best

An IDE interface for the +3e ROMs can very cheap and simple (three components), whereas ResiDOS needs a complex interface with onboard RAM etc. I'm not sure anyone even sells a suitable interface any more.

TL;DR: +3e

I'm using this device: https://www.sellmyretro.com/offer/deta ... o-sd-34587
It uses SD cards and EsxDOS. I was wondering how is it different from the DivIDE solutions regarding storage? Are there any advantages to DivIDE way?
