Thanks RevStu for that interesting tale and especially the link because there's one paragraph from that description about fixing your game that needs to be repeated loudly and often IMHO -
'The glory of ZX BASIC, the Speccy’s very specialised form of the easiest commonly-used coding language, is that it’s not only impeccably logical and essentially reads like normal English sentences, it’s also error-trapped to within an inch of its life. It simply won’t let you enter a line of code with syntax errors in it, and the “keyword” entry system helps you along every step of the way.'
Were it not for ZXBasic I would never have learned to program, albeit simplistically in extremis, but it opened up a whole new way of thinking and even led to my career as a teacher. I cannot give enough praise to the folk at Nine Tiles responsible for doing the job so thoroughly despite being constrained by Clive's legendary penny pinching!
I really enjoyed reading about your contributions, thank you.

Re: Little article about returning to ZX BASIC
Funny enough, when the title was Returning to Basic, I was assuming it was something about setting HL, IY and a couple of system variables so you can return to basic. When in fact it was a nice article about going back to some of your old programs to iron out the creases. Ironically ending with the one you can't fix because you don't know how to ... Return To Basic
Didn't the Multiface have some return to Basic option ? Otherwise I've seen a utility somewhere to extract Basic from a tap file

Just tested, BASINC opens the TAP file and lists the Basic program, I'm sure you could save it, plus any needed memory areas such as machine code and UDGs from there
