On the Spectrum...

Dunno if any of you chaps are readers of Private Eye? I was reading it in the bath last night and spotted this. Made me chuckle, anyway.

Before various companies got funny about flash applications running in browsers, at work, when the manager was not around, we may have played (strictly during our break time mind) some flash games... ;)

Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb :dance
Looking forward to summer later in the year.

Heh nice. I've submitted a couple of cartoons to Private Eye over the years, both of which returned, probably fairly, "Ed says NO". I wish I thought of this one!

Hey... I did too, one time! It was around the time when Saddam was holding British hostages in Iraq, as human shields, and the Dick Tracy movie was out at the same time. Despite not having any artistic skills I somehow managed to draw Saddam as Dick Tracy and captioned it a 'Dick Tator'. I thought it was funny, anyway. I was both gutted and thrilled to receive it back with a handwritten note from editor Ian Hislop saying it was "quite funny" but a "bit of a sh*t drawing". What a great guy to take time out to give feedback to wannabes - that note's contents will always stay with me.

Haha! Brill. I guess you don't still have the note? I received my refusals via a subeditor, but my understanding is that Mr Hislop still checks them out himself.

Might start a spectrum/retrocomp cartoon thread when I find time.

Probably. But a tiny sliver of paper that's at the bottom of some box at the back of the garage or attic... it's as good as lost forever!
