That never stopped the ancient Egyptians! There are plenty of examples of the art-style of the time where the people, gods, mythical beasts etc. were depicted with two left hands or two right hands depending on which way they were facing. It even made it into one of my chemistry textbooks when chirality was first introduced.

I don't think there are too many excuses in this day and age, though. How did neither the tattooist nor the patient notice the problem?

The real problem is the extreme hipsterness and yawn-worthiness of it all. Now, if it was Horace....
