Friday picture quiz - themed rows
Re: Friday picture quiz - themed rows
Is the theme for line 1 that they have all been modded by Harry S. Price?
Re: Friday picture quiz - themed rows
Row 4?
No not horror, not in the horror film sense anyway.
Yes, no limit on guesses.
Re: Friday picture quiz - themed rows
Yep well done. They've all been the subject of a Harry S Price homage.
Re: Friday picture quiz - themed rows
5 is Ralph on Alpha 2
Re: Friday picture quiz - themed rows
1 is Icicle Works
2 is Pyramania
2 is Pyramania
Re: Friday picture quiz - themed rows
All game guesses correct.
Nope. 5 & 6 have common ground with another retro system in slightly different ways.

Re: Friday picture quiz - themed rows
Guessing row themes is more difficult than I thought!
Re: Friday picture quiz - themed rows
Yep Starbike.
Row 4 - Druellan was very close with "horror", but using the word in a very different sense.
Row 5 - How did these games fare on other systems?
Row 6 - As above.
Just 17 & 19 to get.
I think I've made them too eclectic, and not as clear cut as I'd like. Big hints:Juan F. Ramirez wrote: ↑Fri Jun 22, 2018 3:41 pm Guessing row themes is more difficult than I thought!

I think I've made them too eclectic, and I think some will disagree with 5/6. Big hints:Juan F. Ramirez wrote: ↑Fri Jun 22, 2018 3:41 pm Guessing row themes is more difficult than I thought!

Re: Friday picture quiz - themed rows
Nope, 5 & 6 only relate to one other 8 bit console.
I'll make that the last clue, there's a chance people won't agree with it!

5. All better on Speccy than C64
6. All better on C64 than Speccy
?

Re: Friday picture quiz - themed rows
YES! Well done.
Wasn't sure anyone would get those.
Re: Friday picture quiz - themed rows
I just based it on your clues and Fairlight/IK+. No idea about any of the others
Re: Friday picture quiz - themed rows
Row 4 = Survival horror?
Re: Friday picture quiz - themed rows
Nope I don't think my clue helped there.
Row 4 is unplayable crap
Re: Friday picture quiz - themed rows
Yep. Surprised that didn't go sooner, maybe the mind represses the details of SQIJ to protect itself.
19 might be tricky. Most notorious for being bad on another system. Those black bits are pits, you might want to bury stuff in them...

Re: Friday picture quiz - themed rows
I strongly disagree with the last row.
Turrican and International Karate + were each bit as good on the Spectrum as on the ol' breadbin.
Double Dragon on the Spectrum was actually better than on the C64, which was absolutely dreadful - remember the programmers' excuses about the lines cutting the characters in half?
Salamander was a passable shooter on the Spectrum, a bit better on the C64 honestly, but not a great conversion of the coin-op on either of them.
For the record, I played all of them back in the day on both machines, and the two coin-ops as well.
