I was going to make that point, but the voice-overs were 'BBC English', so that threw me off a bit. Also, promo VHS ads seems the likely answer.

Re: Game TV adverts
Watching them again, the Ocean ones might actually be TV adverts as they do say “available from good computer game shops” (or similar), so maybe those adverts were shown in the North West of England, seeing as Ocean were based in Manchester. But the Rasputin one Id say was from a WH Smith in-store type of promo video.

I remember an advert for Ocean's Rambo being shown before the film on a rental video.

Yes of course I'd forgotten about that. Also Ocean managed to squeeze a promo for the Robocop game onto the films VHS release I think.mickfarrow wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 10:56 am I remember an advert for Ocean's Rambo being shown before the film on a rental video.
Re: Game TV adverts
That's one of the many things I loved about the 80's. Only back then could you advertise a computer game played predominantly by kids on the VHS tape of one of the greatest and most violent 18 rated films of all time . You'd not get that these days with all these half baked snowflakes who are petrified of their own shadowsDouglasReynholm wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 1:35 pmYes of course I'd forgotten about that. Re: Game TV adverts
Just came across this cool Ocean compilation advert on Twitter. Unfortunately I can't find it on YouTube.

It'd be great if someone provides the YT link.

Re: Game TV adverts
I played this myself for the first time in about 30 years just the other day. Bloody hell it's difficult (for me). I think crossing the road is more luck than judgement.

Hardware rather than software, but this is an advert for the +2. Interesting that it doesn't feature any in-game action.

Re: Game TV adverts
Yeah, this is the Spectrum ad I've seen most. Cool.
Besides Plus and Plus 2... was there a TV ad for the 16k/48k models when they came out in 1982 or 1983? I've been searching for a long time but I couldn't find any. Brochures, magazine ads, ... but no TV ads. Even the QL had one. But the original Spectrum didn't. It makes no sense.
Do you remember a TV campaign in the UK when the Spectrum came out?

Re: Game TV adverts
By the way, all these ads might be included in their own entry in the database like the games, don't you think, Einar Saukas ?
Re: Game TV adverts
A bit off topic, sorry.. but I hadn't seen the advert for the watch before.

To be honest I don't recall any Spectrum TV adverts when I was growing up, although that maybe because my parents preferred the BBC (National broadcaster without adverts)!
