Hi PeterJ awesome as always... BUT! seems that CGC2018 titles are not in the update?

Edit: oh, I can see them with the link, but I can't search for them, perhaps I need to wait a bit longer for the propagation.

Hi druellan

If you search with the 'Advanced Search' on the home page the default is not to include 'Crap Games' You need to switch that with the pull down to include them.

Well, I can see them if I use the link, but if I search for Thermal Ski (for example), nothing is found, and if I list all the titles, the list is incomplete:

Ta dru, Peter has explained why.

Ahh, well spotted.

That's a good point though, if you click on the link to CGC 2018 via one of the games, it defaults to showing non-crap—for the CSS CGC!

Would it get messy if that was made an exception?

Seems to work for me druellan with the 'Include Crap Games' option selected.

We will investigate further.

Oh, yeah, this is also happening when you want to see all games from an author:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... l_id=18213

Looking at this again, I'm not sure why the crap games are filtered by default. This should be something only related to the advanced search IMHO.

There are 2 different issues here.

1.) When you use regular search or advanced search, crap games are hidden by default. You need to explicitly select crap, if you want crap. This is intentional. If you always got several pages of intentionally crap games (from over 2 decades of CSSCGC) whenever you searched for anything, I'm sure you would get tired of using SC fairly quick.

2.) In the specific case of CSSCGC 2018, 25 games were added to group CSSCGC Crap Games Contest 2018, but only one of them was added to compilation CSSCGC Crap Games Competition 2018. I will fix it in the next ZXDB update.

Thanks Einar. But what if I'm looking for all games from an author or a publisher? I think CRAP might be included there.

That's a good point. Perhaps it makes sense to see all titles including crap, when clicking on an author or publisher name.

I can see the benefits of having 'all titles' as default, but I'm erring towards keeping things as they are. Either that or having 'all titles', but listing CGC stuff separately in some way. Perhaps all 'notcrap' followed by 'iscrap', and somehow making that segregration clear.

Authors don't do CGC entries in the same spirit as their 'proper' games, and for most of the CGC's history, were never stored as part of the same archive. It wouldn't bother me, but I can imagine some authors don't want to be judged equally on their throwaway fun stuff.

This evening I will be updating phpBB (The software that drives the forum) from 3.2.2 to 3.2.5

The forum will be become unavailable during this time. I will post here again once the upgrade is complete.

Great, thanks :)

Is there a reason why the Croque Nombres file is claimed to be a TAP file, shouldn't it be names as a TZX file?
