Yay!
Any chance of moving the #A-Z bar up the screen, under the main buttons and above the advanced search box? I mentioned in this comment:
viewtopic.php?f=29&t=357&start=40#p14848
Hi Mat,

Yes, it's on the list

Thanks R-Tape

I've also updated the date of last update on the homepage, and added the last couple of updates to the Sites Update page.

PS. I've actually been away at the Christmas markets in Bath (Sadly my life is not quite so jet-setting as Dave makes out!) Well worth a visit though if you are in the area. Especially worth stopping by the lovely Christmas tree just outside the abbey.

Do you plan to tag entries?

E.g. platformer, tiny intro, 256b etc ?

Hi g0blinish

Each entry in the database does have a large number of tags or attributes such as genre, machine requirements and many more. You can search these tags via the advanced search on the home page.

The date of last update could be stored directly in ZXDB by Einar Saukas and the home page could be updated automatically after that.

New A-Z bar on the front page is a great idea. I now have no need whatsoever to go to WoS :-)

Thank you for adding the A-Z bar higher up. Here's a few screen shots from Chrome and Firefox at 1280x1024 and 1024x768

Firefox at 1280 x 1024
Image

Firefox at 1024 x 768
Image

Chrome at 1024 x 768
Image

Chrome at 1270 x 1024
Image

The rendering on Firefox at 1024x768 - causes the A-Z bar to spill over 2 lines.
Firefox at 1024x768 and 1280x1024 - the splash font is a lot larger (I've not altered the font sizes), this causes the A-Z bar to jump around the screen when the different massages scroll on the screen
This is all down to browser rendering but there are some of us that use 1024x768 - I use 1024x600 on my main netbook for most browsing. I've plugged it into the bigger screen to see how things look and render on the 2 browsers that I currently use.

It can now be seen and used. Yay!

Thanks for the screenshots, they do help.
I'm aware that it's not optimal on intermediate resolution devices and will correct the text sizes when possible ;)

I noticed that the last update misses stuff I uploaded by recently added upload facility.

Will it be added in the future or do I need to upload it again, maybe in the old way?

The last update was partial. The next one may be a bit lean too.

No need to upload again. It's there, and we'll get around to it. This month is going to need more patience than normal :-)

I'm traveling, R-Tape is busy with WOOT, and we have just released ZX-Ed (our new internal update system) so we will need a little time to adapt to the new process. It will probably take about a month or so until we can get everything sorted out. We expect everything to be much more efficient afterwards.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

No problem for me. The key is all this is moving (READ: often updates, new stuff, improving the site, etc).

No matter how fast or how often, but it's moving.

The trick is, whenever I find out there will be a holiday somewhere in the world, I find an excuse to be there!

Time was short, we need to get used to the new update system, so we prioritised getting the new software. Sorry you've got to wait again for your MIA, upload or fix; after a rest, we will get round to these in the new year :-)
