ISS Emergency (New mini-text adventure)

Post by 8BitAG »

I've done a quick conversion of John Whatson's fun little mini-text adventure, originally coded in Python, ISS Emergency.

Can you save the International Space Station from destruction? (It may take a few goes)

The game can be downloaded from here: http://8bitag.com/games/iss-emergency.html

Bloody hell I'm hopeless at text adventures! I've set this as my game to complete on several occasions since it was released, and I've yet to go past the 650 point mark.

(I'm not after the solutions btw - just whinging).

Lol, can't blame me. Blame, John. (I think I actually tweaked things to make it easier, in a way. You can get help from one of the other characters).

(I wonder if I can finish it myself after a three year gap)

Some hints...

Make sure you examine everything that's mentioned. There are usually hints.

I think there are three important objects in the starting room and two in the storage room. But there are also three useless objects in those two locations.

Megan sometimes gives you help if you ask her when she's following you around.

Sometimes people will sort techy stuff out for you.

You can probably help them out with stuff too.

Aha. Thanks fellas - progress. I've now reached the giddy heights of 1000 ISS points.

Lol. I'd forgotten I'd added that. :)

At the time, this was just a little Python game that John had written that nobody was playing. It seemed quite cute and I thought it was a shame it was being ignored, so I ported it to the Speccy to see if that would get more people to give it a go. It seemed to work.

John was playing around with a sequel at some point. And he did do a little Christmas remix in Python, back in December... https://trinket.io/python/9f2ecf2eec?ou ... Option=run

When I gave it a go, I didn't get very far myself in that one! :)

Woop woop! Thanks for porting it Gareth, I enjoyed that. I struggle with text adventures because I don't play them enough. My difficulty is less the puzzles, and more learning what is and isn't possible in a text adventure.
