A very nice old-school shoot'em'up released... :)

It's very good. 100% pure machine code I believe. No game creators used.

In the 80s you could put it in any pub as arcade cabinet and earn a lot of cash ;)

I enjoy playing the original Quicksilva game.

This is brilliant. Fast smooth sprites, great graphics, colourful explosions, quality AY spot effects, pixel collisions.

Where did Matt Jackson spring from? It looks like it's his first Spectrum game, but surely it's not his first z80 game?

ATTENTION EVERYBODY:
It looks like I linked a wrong Youtube video ;)

Seems like there are at least 3 Astro Blasters on Zx Spectrum:

- one by Quicksilva from 1983 (which I linked)
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.php?cat=96&id=294

- one for Timex which seems to be equal or almost to Quicksilva version, yet has a separate database entry:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... id=4000116

And the current one. Here's the correct video:
https://youtu.be/CcTLHkLtoRk

Check it out (best in 128 kB mode for AY effects), the classic one is good but this one is an improvement.

Seriously, who is Matt Jackson? Has he been active for some time at other places? From the CPC? This is a brilliant game with so many nice touches, whoever can make something like this must know the Speccy inside-out.

Also, if anyone's in touch with the Matt Jackson, could they ask if we can host the file here at SC?

What a pleasant surprise this game is. I´m also curious about the developer.
About the Quicksilva version, I´m not sure if it was intended to be a conversion, more like a coincidence on the name?
