Camouflage Chris Sievey zx80

Whether it's Mire Mare or a BASIC tape you found in the attic, it needs to be preserved digitally. Post here and experts can help to do so.

I'm sure this appeared as an emulator file somewhere (.o .p?). Does anyone know where it is?

Hi R-Tape,

There is an original on eBay.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124284179764

I think you mean ZX81, rather than ZX80?

I think the .wav file is already out there somewhere (the program, not the song). I'm hoping someone in the know will be able to make the ZX81 tape file so we can make a ZXDB entry with screenshots etc.

Did you find this.
If push comes to shove, I've got two copies of the single (I'm a fan!) and could probably record it to a wav (hopefully cleanly enough to get it into a computer/emulator). I've no idea about ZX81 wav to tape file conversion though.

No I'm afraid not. Though the file must already be 'out there', because Soundhog09's video appears to be filmed from an emulator.

I see you commented on the video, are you able to contact Soundhog to ask him for the .wav (or even better the .p file if he has it)? Other than that, recording your own .wavs would be a great start*.

I'm out of my depth with the ZX81, but I'd love to see this preserved. Any help that you could offer would be much appreciated!

*there are 3 programs on the record, it'd be nice to have them all:

"Camouflage". 16K ZX81. Music video to go with the song.

"Flying Train". 16K ZX81. Must be the precursor to the Speccy version.

"FT". 1K ZX81. A cut down version of Flying Train.

If you can upload it as WAV, I'm sure we can find people willing to convert it.

Also please upload the music too! It can also be WAV, that we can convert to a higher quality MP3 later. The music video program doesn't make much sense without the corresponding music :)

Thanks!!!

Woot! We have the .p file! Thanks uglifruit for approaching soundhog, who is also looking into converting flying train and FT.

I'll get the stuff to you over the next days Einar.

Chris Sievey had another 'pop video', but for the Spectrum this time (for his song Red Indian Music).
Sadly never released. And presumably destined to stay missing.

Do you know where the screenshots came from? And is Manchester central library being asked to look into this as a matter of priority (pandemic be damned!)?

Can you post the .p file or are there copyright issues? I jsut saw Nostalgia Nerd's video and wanted to take a look at the code.
