Whirlwind

Whether it's Mire Mare or a BASIC tape you found in the attic, it needs to be preserved digitally. Post here and experts can help to do so.

As much as I love the dressmaking and accounting MIA that are turning up, this is my favourite for a while!

I love this. Simple idea. Well designed levels. Classic Blaby inlay. Amazing find!

Very nice, where did you find that one? One of my holes in my collection, but Retrogames prices are insane. Think they ask $200 for it :o

I'm glad some collectors know that sharing is caring :) Please send a big thank you to Mr. Rato from us.

This game is obscure, old and insanely hard. This gives me an idea....

Glad that there's still people around enjoying the effort that some people put into preservation. It's extremely time consuming sometimes, but being a collector and in my case very extensively on ZX, it's also a big responsibility, part of a generation history that makes more sense being accessible to the entire community than just rotting on my shelf.

It's very sad that I keep seeing games flowing around to collectors or resellers and not being preserved, sometimes people don't know how to do it and can't care less, or some other's prefer to keep them as MIA on their shelf just to make sure they keep the biggest value (£) possible.

Regarding Whirlwind after preserving played up to level 3 if I recall, really enjoyed the game, quite challenging and very difficult.

Cheers guys

Nice find! Quite a good quality for such an obscure game.

It seems at first glance to be a Manic Miner clone but it's actually more a puzzle. Rather hard, as people say.

How is this game played? I can't get off the first level. There only seem to be left and right control keys, and the rest is falling -- so how do you get all the items without getting stuck?

If my memory does not fail, you have to use the springs to go up...

Ah, the "springs" are those cyan things that are literally just the word "UP". Great graphics.

Still can't do level 1. I can get all the objects except one.

I managed level 1 OK, after (quite) a few tries! Got to get the bottom right 2 items one after the other.

Needs infinite lives, even when snapshotting at start of new screen.

Screen 4 is a struggle.

For god's sake somebody either do a proper RZX of it (there's no shame in rollback) or tell me how to do the first level.
I should stick to the damn text adventures.

I'm definitely old and senile. Wandering around waving my fist like Grand Dizzy, shouting "I can't be stupid, I've been a programmer for 20 years", but unable to beat the third puzzle in some ****ing Professor Layton game.

Wait until you get to Level 4!!!! Oh sorry, you're still stuck on Level 1 so the chances of you seeing Level 4 are incredibly slim.

Im still struggling doing "Rise Out from Dungeons" even though I just literally have to copy what the dude does in the YouTube video. You think "close enough", and then 4 minutes later you realise you fucked it up because the enemy guy is in the wrong area, and you can't get past him.
OH NO!!! OH NO!!
Yeah if you think you are a real strong ALPHA SPECCY MALE, do RZX recording of this game. I have other ones to do.
????face
xoxoxx

I expect some RZXes soon or I will tell friend-of-friend at Google that I have found a Trump hive, you'll all get knocks on the door.
Not sure if this is funny or not. Do you remember "Shock" megademo part 4? oh well

TBH this game has the same kind of cool puzzle as old Boulder Dash (and Speccy "Rockfall" etc.) -- I should appreciate it. But I'm old and useless now. I would have probably cracked it in the 90s as a child, or if I was a super elite upper-class BBC Micro owner. ugh I hate northern speccy scum! something something Thatcher.

might be trolling now. you just don't know (POLL TAX)

i am on crack, please help

Anyway the levels are identical to the MSX game shown on YouTube (even the music is the same -- very well done).
So I will slowly copy *every move* on YouTube, to make sure I don't accidentally sent one enemy into the wrong place. f***'s sake. You can enjoy my RZX recording in about 2 weeks. scream, SCREAM.
ty for listening
