Re: Starchess
Nice find! A Basic game which very decent graphics that doesn't feel Basic at all.
Some comments from a preservation point:
-tape image seems not to be 100% perfect. The first loader doesn't load at all in Spectaculator so
loading screen doesn't load too and the correct loading starts with instructions. There is some
"turbo block" at the end too which seems out of place
-maybe this and this is the same game:

Re: Starchess
You´re right. First loader (star code 16384) seems to be out of place (it´s the loading screen, repeated later), but it was included on the original tape.
Re: Starchess
Okay. In such case I would store this original version as it is and make a "bugfix version" which would correct loader issue and add some very simple first loader which would do:
LOAD "" SCREEN
LOAD ""
LOAD "" SCREEN
LOAD ""

I don’t think starches are good for you.

Re: Starchess
The tape image had a few conversion problems, certainly due to the quality of the original tape.
Most blocks had an extra bit that shouldn't be there, a few headers had a few other wrong bits too.
I managed to identify and recover the original content in all these cases. The fixed image is here:

It will be added to the next ZXDB update.
Thanks!
