uMia: Kryssy adventure games

Whether it's Mire Mare or a BASIC tape you found in the attic, it needs to be preserved digitally. Post here and experts can help to do so.

uMia: Kryssy adventure games

Post by Ralf »

I'll be posting here some more interesting titles not present in ZXDB.

So there is a Russian game already present in a database called Sliders:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... 6&id=17200

Two or three years ago the author of Sliders appeared on zx.pk.ru (main Russian Spectrum site) and revealed that Sliders actually had 3 prequels from late 90ties :)

See Kryssy, Kryssy 2 and Kryssy 3:

("krysa" means "rat" in Russian, that's why the title)

Theay are technically worse than Sliders but you can see an evolution of author's skill. Unfortunately they are in Russian which may be a problem for English speakers.

The download:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/dc1xac

I may prepare a more detailed info if required.

Спасибо Ralf. They all make 8 pixel movements look good but it seems the main thing to improve each time is the front end!

It's funny you mention, I'm determined to do some translations when I release my next game, Kryssy might be a good way of learning...

Some info for the database

These games were not published, maybe only a few author's friends saw it before 2015

Here's the thread at Russian site, you can read it with Google Translate or at least watch the pics:
http://zx-pk.ru/threads/25045-kryssy-adventures.html

And it looks that these game have entries on some other Russian Spectrum site where you can get both .trd and .tzx files:
http://viva-games.ru/game/kryssy
http://viva-games.ru/game/kryssy-2
http://viva-games.ru/game/kryssy-3

The author is: Alexei Haidukov (Алексей Хайдуков)
http://viva-games.ru/avtor/radiotehnika-microgame

When writing this game, the author used "company label" Radiotehnika (actually he says he started writing the 1st game being only 12 years old ;) )

By the way, it seems that Sliders (already present in database) has wrong author. Currently it is "MSG Group". As I understood it was some electronic magazine that released this game as attachment. But run Sliders and you will see "Radiotehnika proudly present" ;)

Years of release:
Kryssy: 1993
Kryssy: 1994
Kryssy3: 1995

There are more uMIA games made by him, I'll deal with them later.

Thanks Ralf that's fantastic. Is it possible to download files from that site? I only seem able to link to online play.

Well, it looks there is no easy and obvious way to download the files.

I'll see what I can do.

Do you prepare RZXs for these games, Rafal? I would like to map them if they are completable.

I'd just like some help to get past the first obstacle on Kryssy 1. I keep getting crushed!

I've put the cauldron on the fire, but can't get google to make sense of the other items apart from the cheese. Some help with what each item is would be nice.

I'd like to but don't know if I'll make it ;) They don't have any solutions available.

I have some good news, Pavel 8-)

I spent today some time with Kryssy. I cheated a bit - examined texts in the game and at one moment even used debugger. But here is the result - the first part is completed !

I'll check the next parts but don't know if they will be easier or harder to complete.
