Early 80's Sega Gremlin USA distribution promo

Post by DouglasReynholm »

Do you like bastardised disco versions of the Rocky theme tune with cheer leading lyrics?

Gratuitous shots of PCBs and nerds in the lab, with cheer leading lyrics?

Painful middle management w*nk voice overs on how you are part of the team?

Awful acting and not much footage of any actual video games?

Well, https://youtu.be/TcuVqhwJ-ss may just be the 15 minute time sink for you!

Just realised I can't edit my own thread so apologies for the bump, but I should point out that my original submission might not have been selling this as it's really worth a view - it is quite a giggle about how far we have come since then, and in so many ways haven't changed a bit. A guilty pleasure then, but should raise some wry smiles.

I didn't want to lay it on too thick but the music and the visuals are great. The soundtrack is a bit distorted in some places but on the whole it's very good for a 35+ year old video. I also love the sales executive tapping his Marlborough on his packet. Just not enough sleaze in modern advertising in my opinion. ;)

Yes, the music is swell. Excellent arrangements and performance. Whoever was commissioned to do them did a great job.

The pops with a Marlboro was really hitting on that broad, but it looks like she wouldn’t give him the time of day. I guess she was into the nerd smiling awkwardly by the blackboard.

I’m a little disappointed they didn’t hire Leonard Nimoy to do the voiceover for the last two bits.
