Post by Muttley Black »

Hello all! I got an Oric atmos but with a missing key!
Anyone maybe have a replacement?

Thank you so much.

Yes and no, but it comes attached with the rest of the machine :(

On a more helpful note: There are a couple of designs of BBC Micro/BBC Master keytops and I think one of these might fit properly, but I don't have a 'B' keyboard here to confirm the fitment options. Its about the right 'colour shade' too.

I'd not at this stage suggest buying a keytop from one of these however if you can get near one to examine said keytop then it is worthwhile as it will be a -lot- easier / quicker to get one of these than an Atmos replacement key, they are 'out there' but not terribly common.

Its the nearest 'equivalent' I can think of in terms of shape/colour/size, at least compared to other machines.

Atmos = Lovely machine. I always think of this as a 6502 'Speccy' really. 8-)

It's a lovely looking machine; the keyboard and sound is way better than the Speccy. But the way its screen memory is laid out, it's even more hostile to action game graphics!

What I found is that the company that made the OEM keyboards for Oric atmos was named Stackpole.
So I am looking for stackpole keycaps.

I was thinking more you might be able to locate a keytop yourself from said machine perhaps ? Not sure where you are though (country) , do not pay too much for a single keytop however!

It is a shame this was not asked a year or more ago, I would of been able to get a keytop or two :( Oh well.

I keep my fingers crossed for an original keycap.
Who knows... maybe there is a replacement waiting for me in some place!

What I am asking is keep this in your mind and ask your retro-friends! :)

Are you in the UK ? :) Only asking as if someone does find 'something' and wants to post it to you, if you're outside there and they are not then it might add up a bit that's all, possibly a bit more if you're outside the EU. Then again a keytop is very small and light! :)

Did you check your local Ebay ? (If you have one for your country) ? Or the nearest one if not, I mean the one you'd normally use to buy things from. :)
