I recently ported Manic Miner to the VIC-20.
I tried to make it as faithful to the gameplay as possible, despite the different screen format (22x23).

Apologies if you've already seen this...
[I noticed that the C64 game doesn't require you to flick both kong switches, so I thought ha! I can improve on that! And made it mandatory. Then I read the Retro Gamer Matthew Smith screen by screen commentary and, oops, neither does the Spectrum version.]
Manic Miner for VIC-20
Re: Manic Miner for VIC-20
Nice one!
How fast is it running? Looks like 25 fps rather than 12.5 to me.

Re: Manic Miner for VIC-20
It's running at 50Hz.
Two enemies update per frame.
I had to split the frequency of Willy's update left/right and up/down so that the jumps weren't too long given the freaky aspect ratio.
IIRC, he updates left/right every third frame.

Re: Manic Miner for VIC-20
Perfect then, but it doesn't half look speedy.
Re: Manic Miner for VIC-20
This is a great game, one of the best Manic Miner ports I've seen.
It's really a pleasure to play, definitely better than the c64 version...
Well done!
Re: Manic Miner for VIC-20
Looks pretty amazing. How long did it take to code it?
Re: Manic Miner for VIC-20
Pegaz, thanks!
Spud, about a month...
