BBC Computer Literacy Project

Post by PeterJ »

The BBC have made available a large amount of content from the 1980s on this site. You will probably need to be UK based to watch the programmes.

Yes, viewable here in the US too.

Incredibly awesome archiving project! I’ve dug out a few of these over the years, but it’s so good having it all made aacailable.

I mistakenly posted a new thread with this name earlier. It's rightly now deleted but I wanted to flag this clip from episode 17 of Micro Live, which features the arrival of the Spectrum 128. The interview with the PR woman is just amazing. They don't make them like that any more (the interviews, or PR women!): https://computer-literacy-project.pilot ... 2ed2ab5af5

Just to make you aware that this series appears to only be available for 3 more months (not sure why), so if you have not watched them yet and want to, make some time over Christmas!

I accidentally stumbled upon this little snippet of the aforementioned Micro Live episode. Figured I’d post the link here:

Every man should plant a tree, build a house, and write a ZX Spectrum game.

Fred really gives Sinclair's Alison a hard time about the 128, starting with "why did you bother?"
Talk about hard hitting interview!

Yeah, made me chuckle.

Yeah, she seems to be getting a bit defensive! What she said about the joystick ports didn't make much sense either - Amstrad didn't seem to run into any problems when it put the IF2-standard ports on the +2.

Presumably her career with Sinclair was short and wouldn't have survived the sale to Amstrad. Anyone know what she did afterwards?
