ZX Spectrum Next software
Re: ZX Spectrum Next software
I'm after some help with my efforts to collect Next screens.
Firstly, whilst I'm happy to buy games that are my sort of genre, I don't feel able to spend $8.99 on The Hollow Earth Hypothesis without a demo available. If anyone has a copy could they help out by taking intro screens and running screens with CSpect. Just use Ctrl+F3 and PNG files will be saved in the home directory of the emulator.

Secondly if anyone has the appropriate arcade ROMS for RAMS (Rusty Arcade Machines), could they take some screens for me too or PM me the ROM files? Please don't post the ROMS here. Thanks!

Re: ZX Spectrum Next software
There is a demo of The Hollow Earth Hypothesis included in the Next distro if that helps?

Re: ZX Spectrum Next software
The demo has older graphics, as they were redone for the released version, but it should still demonstrate gameplay.

Re: ZX Spectrum Next software
If anyone can get Thunder Fly to run in CSpect could they take a running screen for me? The author does say it may need to run on real hardware or try disabling the sound (which I have done). The Intro screen is fine, it just crashes as soon as you hit fire. Thanks.
Re: ZX Spectrum Next software
I would prefer to use screens from the released version if it has changed. Do you own it Seven.FFF? If so please can you take screens and perhaps share with your contacts the work we are trying to complete? Thanks
Re: ZX Spectrum Next software
I don't, sorry. Have you tried contacting the author?

Hi sunteam,
Thank you for letting us know. Just sending the screens to R-Tape. I'm loving the comic adventure style.

This is the hardware manual (you don't need most of these in NedoOS, just the screen layout): http://alonecoder.nedopc.com/zx/books/ATMHW.rar

Many of these things are being written in basic which makes it a little harder to directly port.Alone Coder wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 6:40 pmAny chance for ATM Turbo version for Russian Speccy scene?sunteam wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 11:15 am I've just released Grelox - Colony 7 - https://sunteam.itch.io/grelox-colony-7 ... ctrum-next

We have a Basic interpreter in NedoOS. What commands should it support to have compatibility?Alcoholics Anonymous wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 5:43 am Many of these things are being written in basic which makes it a little harder to directly port.

Re: ZX Spectrum Next software
It's not going to be as simple as that. The operating system and basic are significant extensions of the +3 that are tied to hardware features in the Next. You can have a look at a summary of differences here:Alone Coder wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 10:45 am We have a Basic interpreter in NedoOS. What commands should it support to have compatibility?
https://gitlab.com/thesmog358/tbblue/-/ ... s/nextzxos
"New Commands and Features" will list new basic commands
"File Commands" will talk a bit about file handling from basic
The manual contains a more user-friendly discussion but it's a little bit behind now as development is still ongoing.
Besides the basic extended to extra memory banks and using Next specific hardware features, there is a concept of drivers and dot commands where the drivers can extend basic and the dot commands are a way to run quick machine code programs called from basic that do not interfere with basic memory. Currently drivers are being used to read the mouse and play interrupt driven music.

Rite of the Druid has had an update: You can now SAVE and LOAD. I've also added a few more reactions to certain commands people might type.

We expect no less than the responses to at least 100 different swear words followed by a swift arse-kick back to the BASIC prompt!
By the way ... greetings from a fellow PC Engine owner (back in the early 90s). I've seen your stuff and also some of the various mags you've made, but haven't yet had the opportunity to talk to you, so thought I'd add it here. Cheers!
