Hi all!
I've been doing some research on some Hungarian games lately and I could not find this game on ZXDB.

Yes it does appear to be missing. There's no "Submarine" or "tengeralattjáró", and that author isn't there.Audionautas wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 11:04 am I've been doing some research on some Hungarian games lately and I could not find this game on ZXDB.
Who is the publisher? And are they in ZXDB? There are already some Deltasofts (none of which are hungarian), and there is a hungarian Novotrade.
I think we need to create a new publisher "Deltasoft". Do you agree?

Yes, I agree. But also Novotrade is credited on the game itself, so maybe we should have the game related to both, Novotrade and Deltasoft.R-Tape wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 12:29 pm

According to what I've been researching Novotrade was the first software company in Hungary sponsored by the Hungarian Communist Government and founded in 1983. Well in fact, they were a import/export company of hardware and software (they imported Commodore machines into Hungary). They were settled in Budapest and led by Gabor Renyi. They focused mainly on the C64/C16 and Plus/4 that were the more popular computers in the country followed by the ZX Spectrum. They also had Andromeda Software in London led by Robert Stein (a Hungarian expatriate), that was basically their marketing arm in the UK and their contact with British and American software houses. As we know, thanks to Andromeda we enjoyed the 8 bit versions of Tetris in 1988 (but later, as we know, they lost the rights).
U.S. Gold, Domark, Ocean, Gremlin, Epyx, MicroProse, Hewson, Mirrorsoft and others released games developed by Novotrade (Alternative World Games, Caesar The Cat, Chinese Juggler, Boiler House, Ocean Conqueror..., in some cases they did ports of British and American games (Spitfire 40, Impossible Mission II, Acro Jet, F-15 Strike Eagle...), or developed games as a joint effort, like Eureka! released by Domark.
Here is an article on the company. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm ... story.html
And these two great coverages.

In this website we have a list of Hungarian videogames. https://hungame.blog/az-osszes-magyar-f ... k-listaja/
After reading several articles about this company it seems that they had a in-house development team led by Donát Kiss, but they had a lot of small teams all over Budapest (they talk of about 150 people), participating in projects coordinated from Novotrade HQ. In my opinion Deltasoft was one of those teams. This submarine game was released for the domestic market and under their own name. Anyway, according to all the information I'm finding, in one way or another Novotrade had something to do with all commercial software produced in Hungary. Their name or Andromeda's shows up frequently.
Here is a link to a documentary about this company. https://store.steampowered.com/app/7205 ... e_Edition/

Where can we download the files for these two games?
"Wandering in the realm of mushrooms" - I really want to try this! Educational games are usually very poor, but if you can wander round and ID species then it sounds quite interesting.

I just found this: https://sinclair.hu/magyar_fejlesztesek ... jatekid=20
Also, it would be interesting to check this list out, maybe there is more Hungarian Spectrum software not included on ZXDB.

Hi
Regarding to the A tengeralattjáró new entry in the latest ZXDB update (August 11th 2020). Link: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... 6&id=36287, it was not included the TZX that it's found here: https://sinclair.hu/magyar_fejlesztesek ... jatekid=45
Also, in that website there is a cover artwork scan.
And finally in that Hungarian website we can find two relevant informations that could be added to the ZXDB entry.
- First, the game was COMMERCIAL
- Second, the original price 320 HUF.
All the best!
