Skyrim 48k/128k

so, i'm currently in the process of making a skyrim version for the 48k and 128k/pentagon spectrums. The entire game is text related but i will fix some of the more annoying PC problems:

*Removing the companion system: NPC's can still follow and fight with you but can not be talked to
*Getting rid of the annoying as hell Follow Gollum-eye quest: you can kill him if you wish, he is not part of the game per se
*Trapping Odahviing is automatic, no more having to weaken him or reload a save
*you can choose whether or not to be dragnborn (just like in one of the mods, this removes 80% of the game but allows new opportunities, such as killing Ulfrich and Balgruf as they are now killable, Destroying the civil war questline by romancing (if female) Ulfrich then stabbing him in his sleep and
gaining direct access to the elder scrolls through constant study. Then you can one shot Alduin.

This is just a concept for now.

*48k only has text
*128k text and music (maybe graphics)

thoughts? need a Helper as this is a big project

Sounds interesting, I had a similar Idea...until I took an arrow to the knee...

If you're doing a text-only game, maybe you could take inspiration from the new version that just came out.

How about a version like the brilliant Forest of Long Shadows, which was a type-in in Sinclair User:

How's the progress?

Do you have any scenario? I've never played Skyrim myself but heard it's a very long game with 150 hours of gameplay or so. I suppose it's impossible to put it all into Zx Spectrum game so you would have to choose some parts of the plot.

And did you choose your tool already? Are you going to write it in pure Basic or some existing tool for text games creation?

Pure Basic. i'm also making a version for the BBC Micro. Graphics are going to be...problematic with just a touchpad. though i have audacity, so maybe i could run some music through that and try (keyword is try) to emulate that with the 128's AY speaker. I've decided to scrap the 48k version altogether. too much trouble and not enough space.

Someone's already done a version of the main theme here: https://zxart.ee/eng/authors/n/nq1/skyr ... id:107449/

(sigh) this site really needs a way to attach files other than through the dropbox or Post image. Like Stardot's attachment system.

[mention]MrPixel[/mention] If you want the facility to upload files, then that costs money on disk space. Dropbox, Google Drive, and many more work absolutely fine. What problem are you having. Let us know and we can try and suggest a solution.

I have used dropbox before. the problem is that, i'd rather do it directly than wait for a response. I've checked the site updates and none of my entries have been posted. besides, Posting an image is tricky.

Do you mean this site or the cgc? If this one then I've not been given any entries to post. What I have received is links to truncated jpegs of BASIC (consisting of obligatory unused DIMs and INPUT), despite explaining clearly several times that a picture is not the same as a snapshot. I suppose I should be grateful it's usually black ink on white, rather than the one that was red on magenta.

Obviously you're not doing this on purpose, so please drop me another email if you want help making a z80 to submit to the cgc.

I think you need to seriously read up on file formats....

.ay

Z80 is an emulator snapshot file, PNG is a image (picture) file, and RZX is used to record playbacks of Speccy games.

Have http://www.imgur.com open in a browser tab. Don't even bother to sign up to it, you can simply drop an image file and it'll upload instantly. Wait for it to appear, then right-click and copy image address. Bung it in a forum post here with the [img] tags. Job done.

Yep. Then PM me demanding to put it on the site, knowing full well that a jpeg of some ropey BASIC masquerading as ZX-Skyrim is not a usable file format. In fact you could really take the P?s? this time by using yellow on white.
