How to Write ZX Spectrum Games v1.1 by Jonathan Cauldwell

Post by PeterJ »

Jonathan has published an update to his guide to writing Spectrum games. We are now onto version 1.1.

https://jonathan-cauldwell.itch.io/how- ... trum-games

Which will replace our 1.0 version:

https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... id=2001501

After all the Vega issues he has stepped back from the community, but still updates the multi-platform AGD which is available here:

or

There is also version 4.8 of AGD available which we need to update our version to:

He also keeps the AGD official forum at: https://arcadegamedesigner.proboards.com

By the way, AGD 4.8 was a provisional version which was the last to run on the Spectrum. Since then Jonathan dedicated his efforts to the multi-platform AGD which runs under Windows.

Yes, I was looking at the Windows version earlier. Looks very interesting. I'm impressed!

I have extensively used Jonathan's book while learning how to code for the ZX Spectrum. It helped me understand many Spectrum specific methods, keyboard input, printing text etc. Many thanks Jonathan.

Great to see that "How to" has been updated.

Can we stay with AGD 4.7 for wee while? That was the one Jonathan wanted, and it sounds like 4.8 is still a bit of a test version.
