Image editors

Post by 4thRock »

I'm familiar with Art Studio but what other paint programs were popular ?
I know I can search the site for Utility: Graphics, but what did people really use? And what for?
And for other systems and screens modes, like the QL, Sam and Russian clones ?

On my case, I used Art Studio to create loading screens for my basic "games".
But owning a Timex I was a bit frustrated that there was no editor supporting the extra graphic modes...

For a modern Windows software to create a screen, you could use ZX Paintbrush.

Yes, ZX-Paintbrush is great and supports Timex modes.
I tried BGE but the Russian interface is a problem...
Thanks for the Russian wiki, that's a good starting point for some exploration!

I still use The Artist II and I am slowly switching to Multipaint http://multipaint.kameli.net/. On the other hand, I am far from being a graphics artist or something.

I remember having in my first Speccy days Melbourne Draw, The Artist and Leonardo.
But I was not very keen on them, didn't used them much.

So why did I have them all? Well, I didn't own the originals, it was probably some C90 cassette with different utils

Today I use PC generic tools and later convert them to Speccy format. I find it more comfortable.

Russian artists are so harsh that they have an editor for drawing images on the border. It is the editor, not the converter :-)
