Super Spectrum World

Post by SteveSmith »

I've been working on this game for a few months, and it's now ready for public release. It's a Spectrum-game themed platformer, with loads of references (i.e. graphics) taken from various Spectrum games. If it proves popular, I'll be slowly adding more.

It's playable in your browser, and the link is https://stevesmith16384.bitbucket.io/su ... index.html

Here's a short vid of the game:-

Love it! It'd be great to have this as real speccy game. Nice work.

Unfortunately, pressing the space bar to jump causes my browser to scroll down...

Thanks for letting me know. I thought I'd fixed that, but it looks like my screen was at the bottom anyway. Should be fixed now (although browsers have a habit of caching old versions and ignoring new ones).

That's a really nice idea. The video is compelling, just to see what you managed to get in there next.

Looks like a lot of hard work though!

Hehe, nice...

I liked the 'Thro the wall' screen and the way Willy ended up in Underwurlde after falling down the Chuckie Egg elevator shaft... :)

Why do I only get "C Nonsense in BASIC, 1.041" and plenty of sounds in the background but no actual game?

Yeah, me too! Can hear a jump sound effect in response to pressing space, suggesting the game is running in the background, but nothing changes on screen. I’m on macOS using Firefox and Safari. What are the browser requirements SteveSmith?

same here. Just music, I tried pressing enter and space many times, but it seems to be stuck there.
The video looks awesome!

Yeah I've tried Chrome and Firefox and the same thing happens in both.

Hi everyone. I think the reason it's not working is because the link in my original post is massively out of date. The game is now hosted on Itch at https://stephensmith.itch.io/super-spectrum-world . That should work fine.

And thanks a lot for the kind comments everyone! I've actually started work on a sequel. Nothing released yet, but here's a video of work so far:-
