The best Speccy game by Zenobi Software: vote
Right, after having way too many games to fit the poll option limit, I went through a week of getting you lot to tick games you (or you thought someone else would) have thought worthy. In order to keep this long as possible, I simply eliminated all the ones that had 0 ticks. This brings the list down to a healthy 61 games, so I can now proceed!

I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...
Re: The best Speccy game by Zenobi Software: vote
I've played every single one of these; the majority of them back in the day when they came out, too.
I'm a big fan of part one of Agatha's Folly. The Taxman games are great too. As our the Phoenix series (Phoenix/Celtic Carnage/Violator of Voodoo). Methyhel is one of my favourite games, although I prefer "The Guild" 128K release.
Any of the Jack Lockerby games on there are well worth playing.
I've banned myself from voting for my own games. If anyone does want to try Nether Regions then I think I added a bunch of QoL stuff and other fixes in the more recent DAAD version.

So many quality games here that it took me a while to work out my top three. In the end I went for:
1. Murder, He Said - possibly the best whodunnit game on the Spectrum.
2. One Of Our Wombats Is Missing
3. Agatha's Folly

2. One Of Our Wombats Is Missing
3. Agatha's Folly
Re: The best Speccy game by Zenobi Software: vote
I've played just a few titles, but Zenobi was top quality (and quantity) and I've enjoyed their games.
Specifically:
1. The House on the Tor
2. Murder Hunt II
3. The 39 Steps

Re: The best Speccy game by Zenobi Software: vote
So much to choose from, but we have a tie. Agatha's Folly and Behind Closed Doors jointly take the top place with 3 votes each.
Every other vote - literally one each - has ensured a joint second place for The House On The Tor; Murder - He Said; One Of Our Wombats Is Missing; Sherlock Holmes: The Lamberley Mystery and The Taxman Cometh.
Now, I don't like leaving the top spot to a tie, so what I normally do is consult the proportional results, and surely, as those two games are so popular, one of them has to be clearly at the top or maybe there's a tie there, let's see...
One Of Our Wombats Is Missing 5
Murder - He Said 4
House On The Tor, The 3
Balrog And The Cat, The 2
Murder Hunt II 2
Agatha's Folly 1
Thirty-Nine Steps, The 1
...Oh. Something completely different is at the top and Behind Closed Doors isn't even listed! I mean, that's rare, but certainly within the rules.
Of course, I haven't taken in @hitm4n's comment as there wasn't really an unambigous third choice, but if we take his #3 to be Balrog And The Cat, and throw all that in, then we have proportional results along the lines of:
One Of Our Wombats Is Missing 5
Murder - He Said 4
Agatha's Folly 3
Balrog And The Cat, The 3
Behind Closed Doors 3
House On The Tor, The 3
Murder Hunt II 2
Thirty-Nine Steps, The 1
Now, as to what the SpectrumComputing electorate believes the best Zenobi Software game to be, hmm... It's still rather inconclusive.
Yes, you could say it's One Of Our Wombats Is Missing. Or if you're in the Agatha's Folly/Behind Closed Doors camp, and you feel it should be one of those two, well, Agatha's Folly has come off the better of the two, even though it's not got higher than a third position overall!
I think, taking in the commitment of the proportional vote comments, that the winner should be One Of Our Wombats Is Missing, but I can certainly understand objections to this verdict. Yeah, call for a steward's enquiry I guess. Um, anyone got the steward's phone number?
I would put in a late proportional vote myself, but I've only seriously played Behind Closed Doors and Bulbo And The Lizard King. I have played a few others, like the next two Behind Closed Doors sequels, but can't really be that confident I can make an informed call on what my third-placed game would be.
It's mad isn't it, the Zenobi Software poll has been problematic from the start, with too many games to be listed, and so I had to put in the elimination ro... WAIT A MINUTE... I could count the ones from those two polls and find out the top game...
Well, Agatha's Folly was the only game to get 5 votes in that stage, that's the highest. Behind Closed Doors got 4 votes, but then so did many others: Murder He Said; One Of Our Wombats Is Missing; Retarded Creatures And Caverns and Sherlock Holmes: Lamberley Mystery. Again, this confirms that Agatha's Folly does beat Behind Closed Doors, but, taking in the proportional votes, does it really top One Of Our Wombats Is Missing?
Wherever the Rochdale Balrog is now, I wonder if he's looking down and laughing about this futile and convoluted attempt to find the best Zenobi game. [blasphemy]Perhaps it's A Stroll In The Bleak Forest, the only game in our shortlist that's not an actual text adventure![/blasphemy]

Lol, Wombats has always been controversial. John would probably have been happy with that one winning, given he wrote a chunk of it.
You can't have a game winning that 90% of the voters didn't think was good enough to be their first choice, though!
(Agatha's Folly is the better game. )

Solved it.
One Of Agatha's Follies Is Missing is the true winner. I'll work out how such a thing exists by MERGEing the games, they're all in BASIC, right? (Oh, you fool - Ed).
