Chris Wilkins Crash 2022 Event

Post by PeterJ »

@fusion_chris has announced an event coming in November 2022.

I've contacted Chris and asked if he could update us when there are more details.

Thanks to @PaulJ for bringing this to my attention.

I spoke to Chris Wilkins about the Crash event on the latest episode of Retro Asylum so if you want to know what he has lined up, give it a listen. It starts at around the last 40 minutes of the episode.

Yeah I’m up for that mate. Like you say, it’s only up the road for us. Looks like it’ll be a crackin’ day.

@Vampyre and me popped in for a couple of hours Saturday. It was great to see how busy it was and I loved looking at all the different Speccy models. I was also really chuffed to see a Next in action, had a play around with the menu and fired up Jinxster and can’t wait to get mine next year.

Some great talks. Loved seeing the authors of 3D Monster Maze, Saboteur and Football Managaer in the flesh. Some fantastic obscurities on view too.

It was a very entertaining day. I've (finally) crossed paths with Malcolm Evans, Jonathan Cauldwell and Andy Johns, had my hands on a real Toastrack (playing @R-Tape's Chrimblast!) and QL (and put an example program on the screen just to show off), bought a couple more new(ish) games for the ZX81, completely failed to find a new drive belt for the +3 (because what I have is probably knackered), promoted @Joefish as a programming god to those who didn't realise the sheer scale of the achievement of Gnash-Man Party, been prevented from participating in a quiz for being a smartphone-less Luddite, watched a preview of a film whose Kickstarter I was too broke (at the time) to back, and I have reading material in the form of an Issue 1 Next manual - so I'd better get CSpect fired up.

Also, Walsall FC's match went their way - eventually - and as their fans were only too happy to inform the travelling Carlisle fans in the opposite corner when the equaliser was scored just before Fergie time and the winner well within it, you're not singing any more. That'll have been a miserable trek back up the M6. The security guard at the Stadium Suite says he wants Manchester City away in the next round, to keep the club's bank account healthy - which in turn means the Stadium Suite and whatever they call the other conference room can also be maintained, and events like this can keep on happening in the West Midlands.

It looks great. It's nice to see a Speccy/ 8 bit based event given that the PLAY events are increasingly (understandably) catering to newer platforms.

Who's the dab hand at Manic Miner? It's hard enough getting to the Solar Power Generator without the pressure of a big screen and an audience. And was it the same bloke make that schoolboy error on Eugene's Lair?!

That was Geoff Neil (from The Spectrum Show) He won the challenge. Different person cocked upon Eugene’s Lair.

I see someone's gone round buying up all the Sony KDL-15G2000 tellies they can get their hands on. I wonder if they all came from big posh houses having their kitchens refitted like the ones I picked up!

Would've liked to go to this, moreso now I've seen some of the clips. Though I ended up catching a bit of a flu bug so just as well I didn't buy a ticket :?

...Haha I usually make a similar mistake on the Kong beast screen - drop down to the exit forgetting about the positions of the flaming barrels...
