Action Screenplay
is currently set as "Hardware: undetermined", but really needs a new genre "Video Magazine".
This entry is for Issue 1, published 1st May 1989
From the magazine references, there is also an issue 2 (30th June 1989) and issue 3 that need new entries.

a) Triumph is a publishing label from company (or group) Triumph Game Labs?
b) Triumph is a person that owns company (or group) Triumph Game Labs?
c) Triumph is a person that works for company (or belongs to group/team) Triumph Game Labs?
Re: Little bugs in the database 5
Triumph is a publishing label of Triumph Game Labs - this fits the best. More like a common shorthand for a well known label.Einar Saukas wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 12:10 pm What exactly do you mean?

Something is wrong in the database is about the author called IrataHack
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/list?label_id=20912
So he made two recent games but somehow I don't believe he published some book in 1983

Re: Little bugs in the database 5
Super Zeeslag: This game attributed to Sir Clive and Mr. ZX in 1991 , I've already seen it as a type-in listing inside Sinclair Gebruiker magazine of December 1985. See it here in the archive, pages 43 to 44.
Original author seems to be called Schellens, named on info and at the beginning of BASIC program.
Watching downloadable files, the TAP in the middle has exactly the same LISTing as appears in this Sinclair Gebruiker issue. The "different" one has slight modifications on it.

The Tartan release in 1987 had improvements and enhancements. Previous discussions about site/ZXDB policy has indicated that sort of thing is not enough to justify an additional entry, so the 1986 information & publisher would apply.

https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... 96&id=2456 Implosion's loading screen seems to be done by John Cassells (https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... el_id=7218).
This has been discovered after long search by participants of @zxgfx chat. He has also done loading screen for c64 version, and his other works resemble same style a lot.

Re: Little bugs in the database 5
Isn't John Cassells signature the "Cas" as on the Ace 2 loading screen? Implosion, which was released just after Ace 2, seems to be signed by "S".moroz1999 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 10:21 am https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... 96&id=2456 Implosion's loading screen seems to be done by John Cassells (https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... el_id=7218).

The C64 version is also signed "Cas":
Seems unlikely that John Cassells would copy his own loading screen but change his own signature.

Tony Roberts, the author of this type-in, is unlikely to be the Tony Roberts who does the cover art.

Re: Little bugs in the database 5
Covertapes C&VG issue 036, C&VG issue 073 and C&VG issue 088 all have duplicate running screens.
Covertape Computer & Video Games Issue 85: R-Type Playable Demo has EMAP Business & Computer Publications Ltd (UK) as the original publisher, not the magazine issue. (Also note the completely different title).
When is a demo a demo? The Thundercats version in issue 73 "only" has the first 20 levels.
Where does that EMAP name come from? C&VG was published by "EMAP National Publications Ltd" from the first issue in 1981 to at least 1985. The only instance I am aware of for "EMAP Business & Computer Publications Ltd" is from Commodore User, with the final 8/16 bit mag releases as "EMAP Images", probably including SU and Crash.
EMAP Business & Computer Publications Ltd (UK) does not seem to be registered in the database as the owner of C&VG, thus the magazine referenced covertapes do not show up there. But is shows as the publisher of the magazine (Probably applies to more magz, since they only show as the owners of Crash and SU).
Should Type-ins also show up there? (they do not now)

Re: Little bugs in the database 5
The R-Type demo was recently added through the preservation tools, which is why it's a bit bare, "magazine issue link" still needs adding manually. The "original publisher" should be EMAP, as they published it. The other cover tapes should also have EMAP as publisher too, otherwise the "original publisher" is just the same information as the "magazine issue link":sho wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 7:14 am
