Christmas high score challenge?

Post by Jbizzel »

For the last couple of year we have done a Christmas high score challenge.

Psion Scrabble was a particular highlight from last year.

As was the Monty mole Christmas game. I really enjoyed both

Would anyone be interested in such an event this year?

3 games, with a deadline for submitting a high score for each of them.

Let me know what you think and what games you'd like to include.

Here's a suggestion. I've never played it, but it could be a fun one.

Yep I'd be up for an Xmas HSC. Do we have one with an Xmas theme or do we go for 'normal' games?

I think a mix could be good.

Need a decent Xmas game with a high score too, which we haven't done before.

I'd be up for a HSC. One token (probably crap) Christmas game and then a mix?

Here is my own game. Not many have played the game, it is quite unknown.

1) you can play 4 competitions, each level its own score.
2) you play a game that noboby played too often
3) it has a random element in it, so not just training to get a high score
4) each game ends after a few minutes, so multiple tries are possible
5) scores will be in close range so every one can set the highest score.

I'd agree a bit of a mix is ideal, perhaps one "seasonal" themed game and the other two random ones picked by popular posts here.

I don't really have any sane suggestions other than perhaps Turmoil (no, I'm not very good at it either) , as some games such as Chuckie which I do like a lot, skilled players can be at it for hours etc.

:)

Yep I'd vote for that. It looks the right side of crappy yet fun for the chrimbo themed game. I'd also vote for your other suggestion of Freddy Hardest. I spent many an hour ducking, shooting and treacle jumping on that BITD.

There is also the boardgameversion, which is the original game.
Turned based play against the computer, like chess.

Are there a list of 'gaming candidates' to vote for or are we still posting suggestions ? :)

Hmm. One more random suggestion from me. Perhaps "Wheelie" ?

I'm completely useless at this so it would be doubtful I would make it into the top 10 players if 11 people incuding myself played.

Or "Worse Things Happen At Sea" , if you want a slightly obscure one. I did think about Gillian's Gold or Kokotoni Wilf but I think they not a great candidates for this somehow. The latter is potentially too easy.

Indeed there was "method in my madness" with this choice previous year, pleased it was not dismissed out of hand! :D

Well here are the suggestions.

Let's go with this one....
merry Xmas santa

And vote for 2 others from below....

Freddy hardest
world bar
Wheelie
Worse Things Happen At Sea
Gillian's Gold
Kokotoni Wilf

Let me know your vote in a comment.

Date wise, what do you think to this schedule, does it suit?

I'm happy to tack scores as usual :)

Game 1 Dec 23-25th
Game 2 Dec 26-27th
Game 3 Dec 28-29th

I'll put in a vote for Worse Things Happen At Sea, mainly on the grounds that I've actually played it and won't be a complete washout.

Casting my votes for:

Freddy Hardest (as it was the first suggestion)
Worse Things Happen At Sea (slightly less frustrating than Wheelie?)

I'll vote Freddy Hardest and Worse Things Happen At Sea. I have fond memories of FH, and I gather WTHAS is quite innovative so I should get to know it.

How I'll fit them in with so much other new software out there is another matter!

Ok guys, something is clearly shaping up here. And I don't just mean @R-Tape 's excuses ;)

Let's say votes close at midnight tonight just incase.

I haven't played a single one of these games, so I'm looking forward to something new to me :dance

Do I understand right that we're starting with Merry Xmas Santa today, and don't need to vote for it?

Re Gilligan....

hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow do you but the gold in the barrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwww :x

I can put it to the left of the barrow, I can put it right of the barrow, I can move the barrow. But it appears to be magical chance as the whether the gold goes *in* the barrow.

Thanks for sorting bizzel.

Merry Xmas Santa is actually pretty damn good. I thought it was going to be riddled with unfair gameplay and clunky coding, but it's a very decent frantic platformer. I'll start off with level 5 (I think) and a score of 4690.
