St Bride's School... address?

Post by 5MinuteRetro »

I'm sure many of us here are at least tangentially aware of St Bride's School. It's a fascinating and mysterious tale. The organisation was involved in the publication of numerous Spectrum games.

But one thing that doesn't seem to be coverered anywhere is the exact address/location of the house that played home to St Bride's (and various other iterations of... 'otherness'). Sure, we know that it's in Burtonport, County Donegal. But where prescisely? Google doesn't seem to know. Nor does ChatGPT. Does anyone here? I've used Google Maps and Street View to try to find it but, so far, no dice. So, consider this a crowdsourcing request: can you help me find this house?

It's just some kind of incredible mysterious story about a developer or even several developers. in an iconic Irish house in the mid 80s and early 90s:

Slight tangent, but for Irish blue plaques, you could also have 37 Dublin Street, Carlow. Where the "New Concepts Ltd" made the world's first surfing simulator. Complete with miniature surfboard!

Huh - how on earth did I miss that?! I’ve ‘driven’ up and down that road several times in Street View and simply didn’t see it. Anyway, that’s the one - well done!

I'd love to say it was hours of skillful research but this is what I saw when I opened up google maps to Burtonport:

WTF?! I swear there wasn’t there when I looked! Had it have been I believe I would’ve noticed it, because I’m well aware of the Screamers link in this story. Bizarre!

Yep, imagine a NHS with longer queues.
